i've the 2009 prairie 360, and this thing is a tank almost unstopable. I live in canada and we have a lot of snow and it work pretty well in 12inch and during climbing the diff. lock can be really useful..

I really like the 400. Runs smooth, handles great....The only problem is in really tough stuff it could use a locker. But with that said we put many miles on the 400s before lockers were popular and loved them....

@tank2449 The engine is cooled by the air blowing over the engine from moving, and the oil circulating through it that also runs through an oil cooler (which air blows through from moving.

A machine in this class that I like a whole lot better is the Suzuki King Quad 400. It's a little tidier package with a much better engine and transmission. Although there's no locker, the front differential is one of the better limited slip models.

@jwth2005 The new King Quad 400 is great in every way but doesn't have a locker. The only other great choices are the full-size machine like the KIng Quad 500 or Grizzly 550 to get all the features.

I have a 98 Prarie 400 4x4 and I don't think I'd want to go down 40cc. I've heard good and bad about the 360 but I'll stick with what I have. Getting ready to replace the rear shock and muffler. Kawasaki is missing out not having a unit in the 400-500cc range.

I have a prairie 400 and I can say you're not riding t hard enough you have to beat tf out a prairie to really get the fill affect

I am looking for a new atv and my budget is 2500 and I was wonder what is the best/reliable quad for normal trail riding and quicker trail riding, I was looking at the rancher 350, prairie 360, and eiger 400 or Yamaha, I am 120 pounds and I am 5.6 so if you could let me know that would be great, I have an Arctic cat 250 4x4 rn and it's full time 4x4 so you can't drift or anything fun like that.

A used ATV depends so much on it's condition of course and how it was used and maintained. But you are on the right track. Look for a Rancher, Suzuki Eiger or King Quad 400, Yamaha Big Bear or Kodiak and you won't go wrong.

ATVTV so just trying to do a comparison, the big bear is a shift which I like , but it's air cooled and the kodiak has a bigger engine and is liquid cooled, so I was wondering, I have driven eigers, and rancher 420s and i love them, I was wondering out of those two Yamahas what would be faster?, and as ridiculous as this sounds but which Yamaha would be able to break the rear tires loose to do a little dirt road drifting? I do slow trail riding and faster trail riding.
