If you can keep one foot on the throttle and one foot on the brake your reaction time is much faster. Plus you can use the brake to load the suspension when braking into a corner and the the throttle for loading when beginning your exit.

I noticed the Polaris 2015 line up offers the ACE 570. I bet that thing is more fun to drive with more ponies under the hood compared to the original 330 or whatever the first engine size was. I think the 32HP ACE is ideal for beginner riders, but the 45HP ACE might satisfy the more experienced riders who crave that extra boost. I have not driven one of these but I sat in one at the dealer. I was surprised at 6'-5" I actually could fit inside one. I still prefer the seat position of traditional ATV. The ability to stand up, lean, or shift your weight while navigating tricky terrain is ideal IMO. I am impressed by Polaris's new creations. Just wish they would re-think how and where they manufacture them to maintain quality. Saving a buck building in Mexico will only mean these vehicles will be seeing more atv mechanic shops down the road.

My stepdaughter degloved and broke her hand 5 weeks ago on the side by side version. Multiple sugeries, external fixator, wound vac, and now skin graft, with mrsa infection. She took a turn too fast, and has since already been on the polaris to overcome her fear and learn to drive the right way.

Unfortunately that's one of the downfalls of a machine like this or any of the 50" utvs. If you try to corner too aggressively, you can flip them.

Me too! Better looking wheels and better working tires, maybe a small winch, and a nice steering wheel !

Lets not forget about the original single seater toy like this, the Odyssey FL350 and then the Liquid cooled FL400. Still a cool product and I'm glad Polaris has improved quality since their start back in the 80's.

I knew when I said that about first sport side by side someone would mention the Odyssey and Pilot. Wonderful machines they were with a lifespan far too short ;-(

avengingknight Very true, the 250's were neat but not nearly as comfortable as the fully suspended 350/400's.

My brother and I both bought Ace's a couple months ago, we both think they're awesome! We're both experienced riders, but the feel is like nothing else on the market in my opinion. My only complaint is the turning radius, as our trails can be a bit tight here in Western Washington and all our trees.
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
Have you tried different tires yet? It seems like the turning radius expands as the front tires tend to push so much. Perhaps another of my favorite things to do might help as well - removing the anti-swaybar.
@pearsonba35010 жыл бұрын
ATVTVCOM I've read removing the sway bar makes for a very unstable ride- haven't tried that yet. Still running the original tires for now, I'll wait until they show some wear before spending the money on new rubber. I also read there might be some room for toe/camber adjustment, which might help turning radius a bit. Of course, a locked up rear end doesn't help much, especially with a short wheel base.
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
pearsonba350 It certainly makes the suspension more pliable! We disconnected the sway bars on each end of our RZRs and absolutely loved it. Also disconnected them on the Teryx and Polaris Tourings. You get softer suspension and a little more lean for sure.

i think they should put the 570 pro star engine in the ace then it would be better for more experienced riders
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
That would be an incredible engine in this - perhaps an ACE S ;-)
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
The problem with that is, it will become so expensive then that the price difference between this and the 570 Rzr will be so small that the 570 Rzr will take away all the Ace's sales. I believe Polaris kinda backed themselves into a corner with this one.
@gregrowe11688 жыл бұрын
I was a bit off on that one. Polaris has been selling them for much less than the retail price so even the 570 is much less expensive than the rzr 570. I still would probably rather spend the extra money for the rzr 570 to be able to take a friend along and have a little more cargo space.

As I watch this video again 2 years later, it seems that some of the comments I made initially were maybe a bit over the top. It has more power than I originally thought and the reason it was so loud and slow when Doug was driving it was that it obviously was in low range. It has been quite a hit with sales as well. I was right that it was originally too expensive for what it is. I have found that actual sale prices are much lower than the retail price. The 570 is selling for about what the retail price of the original Ace. And now with obviously the 570 and even a 900 version(though it is a lot more expensive) there is enough power in this machine to satisfy anyone. And the 570 and 900 have eps available if someone feels they need it though even the 570 non eps version is said to be still pretty easy to steer. Full doors would be nice and some of the newer models have half doors. Nets are ok but if I bought one of these or any utv, actual doors would be one of the first accessories I would buy for it along with a winch. Get one of these or any utv stuck and you can't muscle it out like an atv so you either make it or you have to pulled or winched out.

I sat in one at the dealer, it's neat but I prefer my 50" rzr. I can see why some people might prefer it.
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
I see it as a compromise between an atv and utv. You get a nice seat, rollcage, a storage box and pedals like on a utv but with the ability to only carry one person like an atv. Its either an overweight, oversized atv or an undersized utv. 327cc for 900+lbs of machine full of fluids doesn't sound too peppy to me. Didn't look too sporty to me, looked really slow and to be laboring hard just to putt around. Doug isn't a very heavy person either. Imagine a 250 lb rider in that thing, it would be really sluggish.
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
Greg Rowe A 250 lbs rider/driver is going to be at a power disadvantage in just about everything ;-)
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
Well that is true I suppose. I'm about 200 lbs myself. I still think that this machine is too weird and expensive to have high sales numbers.
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
You do realize its $7500 retail price?
@ruffypoo10 жыл бұрын
Only issue with this machine is 1 seat :( I understand the concept but would be nice to even have a set to the rear of the machine much like a 2 up chassis ATV
@billalbion10 жыл бұрын
If it had a rear lockable diff it would be twice as agile especially towing a heavy trailer and far easier to turn and steer when used for agri work. It wants to go straight on with trailer weight on back axle on tar road.
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
I think you meant "unlock able" diff or open diff. In which case I agree.
@billalbion10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying. Unlock able would make me think the diff normally ran locked, diffs run open or unlocked until lost traction requires diff to be locked. My wee 610 mule turned on a sixpence until diff locked. However we understand each other and agree. I am near Edinburgh in Scotland UK. Thanks for your videos, most interesting.
@ATVTVCOM10 жыл бұрын
billalbion You are correct. Most ATVs and UTVs run a locked (spooled) rear differential. Having the ability to unlock or open the rear differential is rare.
@billalbion10 жыл бұрын
ATVTVCOM Originally ordered international, road legal 325 Ace arrived today with dipping lights, indicators, horn and handbrake, but most importantly open diff that can be locked by 3 position rocker switch. This has transformed this machine, both for farm work and handling, steering, agility yet still able to lockup 4x4 for steep muddy tracks. Turning circle is almost halved on hard / dry land and with trailers and engine load and fuel is eased. Can't believe the difference, very pleased. US spec Ace demo is back to dealer.

Why not a turbo inline 4?!?!?!? THAT would be serious fun.
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
I'm sure someone makes a turbo for the 800 engine, that's probably the best its going to get. The 700 engine in the wildcat trail makes more power than the 800 Polaris engine as well.
@forrest22510 жыл бұрын
Greg Rowe There are turbo kits for every rzr engine, but you lose your factory warranty. The wildcat 700 has the advantage of being much newer. The new 570 engine has essentially the same HP at the wheels as the 800. In the forums members have had them dyno'd, the 800 beat the 570 by 1 HP at the wheels in one case. That's what happens when you go from pushrods to overhead cams and bump up compression. The real question is why hasn't Kawi put the 200HP zx14r engine in a teryx with a 6spd sequential trans and shift assist?
@gregrowe116810 жыл бұрын
I don't see anyone else putting anything other than a cvt auto in a utv, unless Honda wants to come up with another new model. I think cost is a huge issue with putting a radically powerful engine in something that will be mass produced. At least put something in the 1000cc and 100hp range to compete with Polaris and Can Am. I actually thought the 800 had the 570 beat by about 10 hp(about 55 hp for the 800 and 45 for the 570) but I guess its much closer than that.
