Ahh that explains it you were a aw fan so was I but looking back I think aw went wrong begining in December of 1988.. Now that I have looked back so since I have discussed Doug marland let's discuss harding Lemay as I have seen his stuff from the 3 month period where he came back as headwriter and it was a lot like Doug Marlands stuff before Donna swajeski came in as headwriter and did awful things like writing Jake as a rapist screwing up Sam fowler. And Amanda Cory. So to elaborate further Paul Ryan when Andy kavovit played Paul was actaully in some ways simalar to Sam fowler when Robert Kelker Kelly played Sam for his first year. Before December of 1988. But also if you compare brian greens performances as Sam fowler and compare it against Andy kavovit performances as Paul Ryan it looked like Paul Ryan light with the facial expressions. Also Sandra Ferguson who played Amanda Cory would have made an excelent Emily Stewart as a, replacement for melenie Smith back in 1990. When she had a family emergency but Doug Marland did not think of that then and micheal liabson over at aw did not think that Andy kavovit would have been the perfect actor to have taken over the part of Sam fowler after Danny merkel bombed out. As right when Brian Greene was debuting as Sam fowler in July 1991 was when Andy kavovit was written out which was end of July 1991 and Andy got let go and written out as Paul because atwt could not find a, suitable replacement for melenie Smith and the show tried a Paul Ryan tess Shelby pairing with Parker posey but fans were not having it they wanted Paul with Emily. And it would take another year until Kelly menighen was found to take over the part of Emily Stewart but Andy kavovit as Paul Ryan did visit in December of 1992 and had scenes with Kelly indicating Doug Marland intended to write him back in 7 or 8 months later but then Doug Marland died. So think of Doug Marland and Micheal David Morrisons death which occurred at the same time in 1993 like when Doug Watson died at another world in 1989 who played Mac Cory. Because aw was never the same and atwt was never the same after Doug Marland died it came close between 1995 up until 1997 but then got screwed up and stayed screwed up pretty much until the end with some bright spots but like aw in the later years was doing to many recasts but was sloppy about it. Hope that helps and by the way I never liked Cass and Lila I did like Cass and Frankie but after seeing how Kathleen got ruined and the older stuff I am in the Cass Kathleen camp now but hated what aw did to Julie Osborn and Kathleen they should have left her dead. But then had Kathleen turn up alive after Frankie got killed off. Hope this helps you more with some more atwt history but tie it a bit more to what aw was, doing while Doug Marland was still alive. There is too much division between those another world viewers who switched over to atwt and those atwt viewers who watched Doug Marland era but were annoyed with the Felicia years and Chris goutman years and the aw viewers need to learn that aw was like the orphan sister over at NBC VS gl and atwt which was on CBS. And that another world often seemed out of place VS what guiding light and atwt were doing. Anyway I hope you guys who watched another world will finally get to see the Doug marland era because trust me you will never look at atwt or another world the same or even guiding light and trust me you look at what Douglas was doing in 1989 VS what another world was doing or even 1990 it's no comparison Doug Marlands stuff was far superior.

@gabrielstern4992 Well, I actually never watched Another World. I arbitrarily picked 1998 to start watching ATWT, and that's around when the AW characters were transplanted to ATWT, so I looked up stuff about the show and their characters. So, Felicia Behr was producing ATWT and Hogan Sheffer was about to start his tenure. I think ATWT would still be on had they followed the Doug Marland playback and not gotten so goofy sometimes.

@@2ToyBoys exactly I hope you go back and actaully watch the Doug marland stuff the Felicia stuff was terrible and the sad thing was before Mary Alice dwer dobbin came in and fired John valente in late 1996 the show was actaully looking like it did for the most part when Doug marland headwrote it. And that was Richard culliton who began to fix that as headwriter begining in late 1994 then they had interim writers but then Stephen demorest finished fixing it when Felicia was coming in but she did not like what stephen was doing. And began to screw with stuff around march of 1997. So here's some Doug marland recommendations I would start with 1989 atwt stuff then go to 1990 atwt. And yes the as the world still turns host has them In folders but for 1990 you will have to go to the other 2 folders such as, dodger something to see the July August and September October stuff. But let's say Andy's Paul is, still a fan favorite as was, scott defretas as Andy Dixon who Andy was with the Felicia years was a joke compared to Doug marlands, stuff ohh another standout from 1990 was the fallout from when holden slept with Julie drunk thinking he was sleeping with lily as Julie was married to Caleb and that's how Aaron Snyder was created but see I think there was, room in the history where Andy Dixon could have been Aaron Snyders dad and not holdens. Unfortunately the actual scenes of holden sleeping with Julie were taken down a few years ago but the fall out from it which happened in September is still up and it was really good. Also Emily broking off her engagement to Paul was orchestrated by Barbara scheming with Gavin Krueger in 1990 to semd her off to LA but as usaul babaras scheming with Gavin resulted in her not realizing that Gavin wanted to get his hands on Paul's inheratence on Paul's money from James stenbeck also if you watch in 1989 when paul shitvhis father you can see clearly that douglas intended James stenbecks death to be permanent but Felicia undid it around march of 1997. Which made no sense along with Paul's half brother David stenbeck. Hope this helps you a bit more with the actaul history of the Doug Marland years. Also molly conlan would have never existed in Doug Marland world either he clearly wrote lily as holdens first love you can check it out for yourself.

@@2ToyBoys and that's correct also had they followed the Doug Marland playbook and that applies to hogan and Chris goutman too instead of trying to cliff note the Doug Marland years and yes Douglas had humor and silly Ness and youthful exerberance too but it was very realistic looking. And God the Snyders and Tom Wiggins and kirk Anderson and Scott Bryce as Craig and Lucinda and John Dixon amd Susan Stewart and Dr Bob and Kim oakdale then encompassed the whole town. Plus Ben Hendrickson as Hal always bieng the voice of reason with Barbara while Barbara ran bro not just sitting around serving coffee in hals kitchen and he did it without having Barbara cheat with Craig or having her get burned in a fire. Ohh and how I miss the oakdale yacht club of the Doug Marland years and Lisa's nightclub the Mona Lisa of the Doug Marland years and Anne swards Lila singing in it Katie's and Craig and margos mother. So there is more of a taste of Doug Marland atwt who knows maybe another round of oakdale siblings can swap girlfriends and wives in a douglas way someday like lien Hughes from Paul to Andy to Duke Dixon or angel Lange from holden to Caleb to Seth Snyder. And not look terrible doing it like the later years.

I hate Emily. She is so annoying. She is so desperate and pathetic trying to get Paul back. The writers assassinated her character IMO. I don't think she would willingly give up her son and she seems to have done just that. It's really sad to watch her. I don't know why she is running down Paul. What good is that going to bring to her? Unless she is seeking nothing more than revenge.
