This show is fantastic and REAL which is so refreshing. I have no personal experience with anyone on the spectrum but this show is so much more than that, it's representing people on the spectrum, yes, but also shows the journey of life for a teen boy trying to find his way like we all do. Also the other characters have depth which is another great element, and the actors are unbelievably good especially the sister IMO. It's really really really a great show. I REALLY hope there are more seasons.

I am on the spectrum at pretty much the same level as the character being portrayed in the movie. I am pretty impressed and have not seen anything that reflects a life of someone just like me. I have a strong interest in transport, e.g trains, trams, monorails, cable cars, etc and I like to relate things in real life to it to expand my understanding of things. Some things were a bit off. I like a human being enjoy spending time with others (if they are acting perfectly around me and do not annoy me). I have found it excruciatingly hard to make friends. That is my biggest fear and biggest difficulty. I actually came across this when my Dad (and stepmum) wanted to watch this and I asked what it’s about. They said it’s about people with Autism just like me. Firstly I was angry because I don’t like people calling me out saying that I have Autism, I just like it when people are nice to me and obey me because I have autism. I overall have a hard time socialising and don’t know any social skills except for please and thank you. I really hope I can finally find someone (a girl) that I can spend the rest of my life with happily with her willing to accomodate my needs. If I don’t sound like a nice person, sorry, I am always trying to be a nice person but my intentions don’t really judge my reactions. If anyone wants to ask me a question, feel free. I will not feel offended by anything I will just reply truthfully. I can’t stand lying, it literally kills me. If I keep a secret, I don’t actually keep it. I just tell the person which I am trying to be hiding it from and then tell them to tell no one. I basically use other people as my fail safe since I can’t handle myself. And yes I do have a wise friend that l hang around a lot, who of which likes to give me lots of helpful advice (it’s not always helpful and can sometimes get me into trouble) Please leave questions I will be happy to reply, I feel that there is a lack of information on autism and I just want to make peoples awareness and knowledge of it slightly greater. Thanks

I work with people on the spectrum and I just wanted to say that you writing that post shows that you have more social skills than you give yourself credit for. If anything, I hope the show helps you understand that you are not limited by autism and that in fact it most likely holds secrets to special skills that most typical people do not have, thus potentially being a huge asset to your success in life. Remember to spend time doing things that make you feel happy. Keeping your happiness in life is the most important thing. This can also come by making others happy. It doesn't have to be all about you. Learn to feel more comfortable with sharing joyful experiences with people you trust. My question to you is what is something about you that you feel you are better at than most people? Take care!!!

@@georgepapoutsis1598 - I am actually on the spectrum and recently worked with someoen on the spectrum in need of more "support" in air quotes. I was alot liek Sam in m college days He also says alot of what I thought. There are some younger people who don't relate to someone written like or like Sam IRL becaue the lanaguage used in teh show is someone antiquated, however, they used it in the right contexts for the right subgroups of people. I get it, w'ere not all "like that." however, I think its REALLY awestriking and FRIGHTENING when you see a mirrror of yourself; granted, not short, white and more masculine presenting. As my brain can't stay on one thing for long I've been working on a video about Atypical; Even did the outline as a live stream on fakebook. However, it's hard to get the clips i'd need for the show. One more thing, watch the meltdown scene in S1; that's what they look and feel like. Atleast imo.

This show is so informative and real but also funny and entertaining. My brother is on the spectrum, far worse than Sam, but I appreciate this show so much. It’s nice to see Autism getting a voice and becoming something that is easier to talk about. I relate to Casey so much (obviously). One thing that’s really stuck with me was when Casey was being interviewed and she said that you almost have to be empty because they need so much space (I don’t remember the quote verbatim, just the point of it). That scene made me bawl my eyes out because I’ve never been able to put it into words. Very well done and kudos to the actors.

I love the show! the ending of the last episode was absolutely perfect! (I have to say this tho, well, I don't have to, but, the sjw, diversity, identity politics crap is overrated. Just respect people, be decent, no need to inject all that pandering. It's patronizing, but that's the times we live in, and I don't think people realize the sway back from it all is not gonna be pretty when people get tired of it)

I think that it is interesting that the writer stated that "police...harass [autistics]" this is the type of personality that individuals who enter policing have, they must have, to survive the horrors of the job. I'm not making any excuses, I am simply explaining how the most successful police officers survive the job.
