This entire trip was a blast. It quite literally threw everything it had at us, Good, Bad and Ugly... Special thanks to Jay, Jim and Aaron and let's not forget Mollie and Wiley for being part of this great Canoe Trip. Thank you to everyone who Watched, Liked and Commented. Just an FYI... This is the last video I edited with my old Macbook Pro... time to retire the old piece of crap which has caused me nothing but grief over the last year of editing. I have a new computer (PC) to work with and new Editing Software... Let the games begin... Dennis

Rather than a backpack you should train Molly to carry the canoe! Now that would be beneficial indeed. Great video guys. The Wenebegon looks like a great canoeing river. Greetings from Satellite Beach, Florida.

Hello and thanks for watching. I think the river would be better at higher water levels. As for Mollie carrying the canoe... I agree 100%
@CanoeingTheEdgeOfTheWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@CanoehoundAdventures I live and canoe mostly in in Central Florida. The upper St. Johns River (Florida's longest river) fluctuates by about 8 feet in water level between the dry and rainy season each year. I know that almost sounds ridiculous but it's true. Places along the shore I stop and eat my lunch at in April/May are 7-9 feet below the waterline right now. It makes for interesting navigation while on the water.

That was quite a spill on those rapids, at least the water temps weren’t that bad for hyperthermia. Great way to connect with nature. Great time with the guys.

Oh boy Dennis. When I saw the title, I suspected the rapids may have been the cause. Glad you got out of both scenarios okay. Yup, would highly recommend lessons if you decide to pursue running more rapids. Lots that can go wrong. I gave Brad warnings about the rapids too, because he didn’t think they were a big deal. He quickly found out when he did his trip. Take care. Thanks for sharing.
@CanoehoundAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍 Those rapids were the complete opposite of when Brad runt them and we faced totally different issues. We really are better at white water than it appeared but the low water with boulders just below the surface... over weight canoe with 2 dongs and me in the bow and my partner in the stern was a recipe for destruction... I usually paddle stern. any way it was fun and I will be learning some tonight on my live stream with the Madawaska Kanu Centre on as a guest... hope you can tune in
@ThePursuitofPassion4 жыл бұрын
@@CanoehoundAdventures As to the rapids and water levels, for sure different. But a long section with lots of rapids at higher levels means a boulder garden when water is low, which is sometimes worse, as you would have the manuever the canoe significantly more. Anyhow, if you're confident in your skills, disregard my suggestion. All the best.

Wow, awesome trip Dennis, what a hidden jem this place is! I've been extremely intrigued by it since I noticed it on the Chris Mar Adventures' Mississaugi River map I recently bought. I went and watched Brad Jennings trip here as soon as I finished it, and I think I have PTSD from watching him run these rapids in the spring!!! Think I'll avoid the Wenebegon River myself though, and just do a lap around Rocky Island Lake instead, while checking out the beginning of Mississaugi River where there's a bunch of campsites. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, that was the trappers trail and not the portage!! It parallels the road for quite bit instead of veering to the river like that one did. I hiked both, got to the drop off and said, "nah, gotta be another way". The portage proper is down the road just a bit more (I signed it from the road too!). Your water would have had to be down 15ft feet for the flat landing there to be that low.... It looks about 2-3ft max. Glad you made it through though!
@CanoehoundAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad... we made it through none the less. Yea water levels were down Soooo Low as evident in all my shots. Dude we need to do a trip so you can give me some WW tips... Hey Congrats on your wedding BTW...Dennis

Hey Dennis! Enjoyed another trip of yours. Looks like a nice place, but I may need to refresh my canoe skills before I attempt a trip like that. I've tried to do shepherd's pie before but failed. maybe a video on that. Like did you dehyrdate the peas and corn and meat all together or seperate. And where you'd get the potatoes and Gravy? With the lack of freeze dried food this year I think this winter I will give my dehydrated another go. I also should try real bacon out there again, that 10 second bacon ain't the same. Cheers!
@CanoehoundAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan. My trick to shepherd's pie is to dry all the ingredients separately. then add the portions you want. I will likely do a video on it this fall or early winter. as for the mashed potatoes, you can purchase them at ant grocery store... another great alternative to the potatoes would be rice to turn the dish into Beef vegetables and rice... one last thing... be sure to add 1 beef flavored boulion to the mix for added flavour
