Gulf Shores’ Defensive Coordinator is actually Brain Vangorder who was a DC at Auburn in the early 2010s. jamichael “jmike” garrett is a great kid and a stud on the field. i’m pretty confident he will be an auburn tiger on june 19th when he commits

In the second half of the Malzahn era we did not see much player development at QB, WR, or O line. The best O lineman to come through Auburn til Freeze and Thorton got here were transfers: Jack Driscoll was Umass i think and the guy from Akron a while back who's name is escaping me.

I am happy with Payton Thorne for the 2024 season. The only nick picky complain I have that should be a fairly easy fix for Payton Thorne is his release time when throwing the ball. Having better receivers that can force separation will help but the opposing team “pass rushers” are getting a little too close to him when he throw the pass. Throwing the ball a 1/2 second to a full second quicker would do wonders. Elite quarterbacks will survey the lineup and know where his 1st two receivers options will be before he initiate the play so he doubt have to waste an extra second or two looking for who may be open. He could also consider disgusting his intended play scheme more to fool the defenses and help to eliminate double-team coverage of his intended receiver target. When you watch replays of Hank Brown’s quarterback play success in the 2023 bowl game against Maryland that is the first thing that stands out. The “baby goat” was getting rid of 😂that football like it was a hot piece of coal. Legendary quarterback Joe Namath was famous for his quick release of the football also. He had to he had bad knees.

I agree with you, but I think the coaches were in agreement that in order to get an elite QB to want to come, they needed to spend all their money on the O-line and WR rooms. Next year I expect they’ll get the QB they want. It was always going to take longer than we wanted to fix this program. We are probably the most delusional fan base, because Gus had us punching above our weight class by sneaking wins over teams and programs that were frankly better than us.

@@joshuajudkins47 Gus was a 4.5 loss a season coach after 2013, he didn't have us punching anything but the mediocrity bag, good riddance.. he left us this mess and Boise didn't help a bit...

@@autk your distain for Gus is irrelevant. We did punch up, because we did beat teams that were better than us. I’m not saying he was a good coach. I’m saying we as a fan base got delusional thinking he was better than he was because we would knock off Bama and UGA at home when they were objectively better than us. It’s going to take a long time for Auburn to actually be a good program. We got left behind a long time ago and no one saw it because we kept pulling crazy upsets

@@thomasdickey1397actually it kind of does. If receivers don’t have separation then that will make a qb hold the ball longer. Now if he does it this season with what we have then yeah sit down.
