Can't believe this game was 10 years ago today. RIP Philip Lutzenkirchen

I was sitting with my fellow Auburn recruiting hosts behind the goalposts. I kid you not... when Darvin Adams caught the Hail Mary you could feel that entire building just buffet and shake under your feet. Electrifying.

What was crazy about this game to me is that beating a team twice in one season is not an easy thing to do. And yet, not only did Auburn win the second time, they mostly dominated. Keep in mind, this wasn’t some pushover Vandy or Kentucky, but a very good South Carolina team that had beat Bama that same season…. Crazy to think about what we were able to accomplish with a middle of the road defense. That’s how special Cam and that veteran offense were. As a side note, Cam wasn’t even entirely healthy in this game AND his revivers had some key drops early which would’ve made the blowout margin even wider. Weird to think about. WDE! 🦅

Y’all just don’t understand how deflating that last second touchdown was before the half as a Gamecocks fan. It was at that moment I knew there was no hope 😂

As an Auburn fan, I knew at that moment where the game was headed. You could feel SC lose hope right then

Yeah that was a game changer. All the air went out of the gamecocks on that play. It was ALL Auburn in the second half.

We beat South Carolina twice in 2010, and they were good back then. Fast forward to now, I shake my head in bewilderment at how we have lost to them the last two seasons and they suck now. Harsin better get his crap together

I’ll never forget being there. First time ever our poor Gamecocks ever sniffed glory. We were all together “ooh’ing” and “ahh’ing” at Cam Newton. Dude was a demigod in his prime; unstoppable

Cam dealt with his dad's off the field mess all season, and didn't know if he would be suspended from game to game and went out there and Balled out every week.

Actually his dad only took the blame so he could continue playing..cam was dealing with Dan mullen and his wife's off field crap

Cam was sprinkled in fairy dust that season, and it seemed like he was invincible. 11+ years later, he's had to learn the hard way that individual athletic ability just won't get it done on Sundays.

@@BabyFed Not AT ALL. I'm in California, so I was never affiliated with Auburn or 'Bama. I wanted Cam to do well, but his body just couldn't keep up with the beatings he kept taking in the NFL.

You know everytime Lundquist or Daniels said that Auburn did anything good they looked for anything bad to say or almost threw up in their mouths!

I do wonder how different college football would have looked in 2010 had there been no Cam Newton. Oregon - TCU national championship game? Or are voters still too scared to put in a school from one of the lesser conferences? Without Cam Newton, TCU is the only undefeated regular season school.

Oh I hate that TCU didn't get a chance. Unfortunately, in the BCS era, you had to take the two undefeated BCS conference champions over TCU who was in the Mountain West Conference still at the time. If it was just 4 years later, all 3 of those teams could've been part of the playoffs.
