Was listening to your itinerary thinking there was no way you would fit a quick lunch trip in to Waiheke Island. Cut to next scene where you obviously came to same conclusion. Having grew up on North Shore I love the neighborhood vibes. Takapuna is my favorite although Milford next door is also fast becoming a multi cultural food scene. Next time set aside an entire day for Waiheke, you won't be disappointed. Mud brick cafe for lunch is a must.

Missing Auckland a lot lived in Albany for 8 years. Have to life in The Netherlands because of family circumstances. Hopefully I can come back in a couple of years as I have a permanent residency for New Zealand. Birkenstocks are so expensive in NZ in europe you can buy them for 80 NZD. I always bought them in Europe brought them back to New Zealand

I visited Auckland in 2008 as part of a bigger NZ trip and didn't spend much time there. I was not very taken by the CBD! I visited again in 2018 and got out to Rangitoto, Waiheke and a few neighbourhoods, and that's when I realised it's a good place! You won't regret spending a weekend on Waiheke. People who live on the island or have a holiday home have really won the lottery of life! Love seeing your adventures in beautiful NZ. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧

That's cool! It's indeed where the sky is as indecisive as your last-minute dinner plans. One moment, it's a radiant blue; the next, it's having a heated argument with a raincloud. I almost about to visit this beautiful country earlier this year but it's unfortunate that my travel dart landed nearer Australia. Hopefully, very soon!

Next time come west - it really is the best. The Waitakere forest and west coast beaches Piha, Te Henga, Cornwallis, Huia, Whatipu are all magnificent.

Great vid. Oh I have very happy memories of Auckland where I grew up. I use to live in Torbay just north of Browns bay. Love the beaches on the North shore. There are so many gorgeous places in and around Auckland and you don't have to travel far to see them.

Did you notice that the soldier statue at 3:48 is identical to the one in Masterton at QE park? We spotted it on our only trip to Devonport back in 2011.

Nice vid mate, glad you're coming round to the Auckland vibe. It catches a lot of hate, probably by virtue of being the largest, but nowhere else in NZ i'd rather live. Also seems some tourists come for like 2 days and conclude they don't like it. Not sure there are many cities in the world you can explore in a couple of days and expect to find the jewels haha. Looking foward to a part 2 vlog next time you're up.

I was agreeably surprised by Auckland, the City of Sails. Landed after a 20-hour flight, and went sailing immediately - what a way to clear one's mind! Funny you mentioned Browns Bay - we went north to Long Beach Bay (sp?) which was stunningly beautiful as well. That Haka was awesome, BTW.

Enjoyed the video. You're right about Auckland being a collection of suburbs that have grown together - they were once separate small towns. Though the CBD has improved remarkably in the last 30 years through things such as the America's cup. A book i think you'd enjoy is Places in the heart by Warwick Roger. He was the guy who founded Metro & Noth & South magazines. Written in 1989 but still very relevant. You can get it online for about $12. A pity you didn't get out to Waiheke, if for no other reason than arriving in the city by water offers a whole other perspective. Failing that go up the sky tower - book a cheese board in the bar to save money. Or going up to the gun emplacements at Devonport also others great views. For a romantic getaway consider flying out to an Airbnb on great barrier island

Your Airbnb is in my hood! Ragtag is delicious. Tacocetas Mexican restaurant in City Works Depot is delicious. The owner is from Mexico City. Check out Piha next time. Beautiful drive through Waitakere Ranges dense native bush. Check the surf before you go to really make it worth your while. Glad you are giving Auckland some positive reviews. I wasn’t born here but I love living here. Also head up north to Tawharanui Regional Park. Beautiful beaches up there and lots of things to see and do. Enjoyed your video

I do have moments of missing Auckland (born and bred).... I am a Westie. I mostly lived in West Auckland and was blessed to live in Titirangi, and Parau in the Waitakere Ranges. If you ever get a chance to really check out the ranges, you won't regret it. Home of Xena, The Piano and other movies because of how scenic it is. Otherwise, next time you are in Devonport, you should head up the hill to the invisible gun with a torch and go in those dark tunnels...its amazing.
