Growing up in Panmure, seeing this video just brings back memories. This is my backyard this whole video, but it's funny knowing people see it as the "hood" but all I see is home. Best childhood growing up in that area, Mount Wellington to one side and Tamaki river to the other running a muck inbetween. Streets were tough and rugged but the people are gems. Grateful for the video

Lived down maybury mid to late 90s. Always walked with my pitbull Damien. Was arrested at lines rd flats ended up in waikeria and never went back to g.i. Brings back alot of memories. Miss that dog. He had me covered walking those streets. After watching this i realized I was out of my depth at the time. I was a Maori from the east coast Gisborne. I used to walk around thinking i was tough with red and white poka dots on usually tied around my dogs neck. I had one of the first pitbull lines in Gisborne. He was 60 lbs of ripped muscle. Im convinced he must of kept me from being rolled because at that time i think amongst my mates I was the only dog supporter. Maybe the LORD kept me safe too. Glory to JESUS

GI right next to high socioeconomic areas. Glendowie - Ridge Road up to St Heliers. Sacred Heart just up the road as well. Also, about 25-30 years ago, they moved in a lot of relocatable houses near Pt England and renovated them, part of the gentrification programme, I think. I used to deliver electrical equipment to the sparkys rewiring the houses. Played a few league and rugby games in the area as well.

Especially around St Johns. Got a street name after our family name. I grew up 275 because my mum was from Mangry, but we would go out East for the parties Panmure, G.I, Mt welly and Orakei. We used to go all the way out there from west Auckland to buy 20$ kegs. I remember waiting for it to fill and some guys walking along the road in the open trying to sell freshly ripped out car radios.

I grew up in Panama, & I always cringed when I hear esiders claim they are hood. But thanks to this video, I get to change my view on this. Now I know every “hood” in akl could mean differently, but it is still hood regarded. Panama’s just bread differently but it doesn’t mean it’s the standard.
