They need to make more 11:59 model options in 38mm

I mean honestly the number of people who give this watch flack is unbearable…. The watch is absolutely stunning. There so much effort put into the design it’s only people who’ve never held a high horlogerie watch who would dismiss this…

I think the watch is very nice, and I am debating purchasing one rn. But here are some caveats 1. it’s a dress watch, but it’s really big for a dress watch 2. It’s a dress watch, but the band is a nice material but uncommon for a dress watch. Some times I’m confused about when I would wear it? 3. It’s very expensive- a chrono retails for $50K. For $50K in a chrono you could get almost any Daytona via resell, or many other chrono watches with high craftsmanship for the time only- this costs more than a Vacheron Overseas- would you want an Overseas (both dress & sports) or a Code 11.59? Or a Vacheron American 1921 (dress)?

@@PhillyHank funny enough - I own the overseas and the 1921 - and I have lost the most money on the latter, while still being my favourite watch in the collection. 1. The original code perhaps in precious metal was pushed as a dress watch (and are on leather straps), the current steel ones are not, at least to my knowledge. 2. Same as point above. 3. The chrono is expensive, but I’m sure you can get them with a discount on the gray market by now. But when you really look at alternatives - it is amongst the cheapest holy trinity chronographs. Alongside the overseas chronos. 4. For time only, I would first go for the overseas. Agreed. But at the same time the overseas is more exclusive and you’ll not get it as a first watch from Vacheron. Also both watches are fundamentally different - the overseas is an integrated steel sports watch, the code is more of a Jazzy/Lounge night out watch. Both serve a different purpose and I’m lucky to own them both. And if compared to the 1921, there’s a $15k delta at retail, and therefore I don’t think it’s a fair comparison.

I have a royal oak, and an offshore and a code. I wear mostly the code. A new world of sport/dress watch. It's incredible

@@PhillyHankall valid points. I am also contemplating one at the moment. Went to boutique yesterday to try on. It feels very much stuck between dress and sports. I had my Patek 5212a on while there and it made me realize just how much the code 11.15 is not a dress watch. Ironically my VC dual time is on today and my answer to your above question is I would rather have the overseas dual time. That said I still am trying to search for reasons to buy the code.

Strong review as always. Great observation into the details of the oscillating weight.

I find it beautiful, with a great looking movement. Purchasing one of these would feel like more than just a means to the end of eventually acquiring a Royal Oak.

Funny, I'd buy this watch if somehow I lucked out and got a screaming deal on one. I have no desire for a Royal Oak

This is no less nice than a royal oak, nowadays the royal oak is an overpriced and overrated hype watch.

I love how this is obviously a sports watch and they only managed to give it 30m or WR

Hey man, when You're only paying 30K for a stainless steel watch on a nato you can't expect everything.

It's never been a dress watch and never will be, hurry up and design a bracelet that works and people might take it seriously.
