I loved the penrose but that cheap plastic really ruined everything when the cups kept snapping off from the headband and I was on my 3rd pair before giving up and selling it on ebay. I am going to buy these since the cups and headbands are joined via aluminum, finally.

The build quality on the Audeze Maxwell is very good, doesn't seem cheap like the Mobius/Penrose.

@ad6m most reviews I’ve seen say the weight is well distributed and doesn’t feel as drastic as it sounds while wearing them. I feel like it won’t be an issue. If it does somehow tire out my neck when I get them I expect to adapt. I see it as a good thing. Heavier product hopefully because of its superior build.

Can you do another update review on the audeze maxwell please. Including Eq now available on android. Have you managed to find a perfect eq for footsteps? Battery life and what to expect if you start to the 80ba for 80 plus hours. What 80ba actually sounds like in real life. Comfort, extended use with weight of headset. Etc... Many thanks

Some people have pointed out that they are still waiting for the XBOX version to be shipped to them. It looks like Audeze has stated that they are still waiting for final approval from Microsoft before shipping the product out. Also, the XBOX version cost $30 more per their product website.

I own the Audeze Penrose which is around about the same sound quality. The only opinion I've heard is that they sound way better than the arctis nova pro (while being cheaper or the same price!)

From a Reddit user: "Not too much difference so far. I’ve noticed it’s a bit worse in terms of footsteps clarity, but that can be fixed with software updates (still needs some tuning). But all the other upgrades make it worth it. The comfort is miles better than mobius and the battery life is awesome. The range is phenomenal before I couldn’t go downstairs without the connection cutting out. Now it’s no problem that alone makes it worth it for me. I sold my mobius and got the Maxwell for free. Id say it’s worth it."

If you play multiplayer on Xbox I’d suggest getting the Xbox one so you can use the chat volume wheel. I had the Penrose X and it worked just fine with the PS4 using the dongle on PC setting. If you get the PS version it still can’t control the chat volume on PS, so you have to ask yourself if having chat control on Xbox is worth the extra $30

@@def-po8tu while I haven't used the Penrose, I've owned the Mobius which the Penrose were based on. This is definitely better than the Mobius in my opinion.

Wow, what an interesting comparison. Given that these are $300 gaming headsets, these really don't compare with the Meze Empyrean. I got the best sound for music using the USB wired connection to my Macbook M1 Pro, everything else did not sound as good as that connection. So far I like what I am hearing, but the mid bass is really emphasized on this headphones maybe a little too much for my taste. Wish had had better sub bass as well. The treble sounds pretty sharp with the USB connection though. I tried using my high-res DAC/Amp stack (Denafrips Ares II + THX AAA 789 Amp), but unfortunately there is no way to bypass the builtin DACAmp on the headset so it did not sound good. I wish there was a way to use the Maxwell without it requiring it to be on for it to output sound.

Don't know what you mean by dual wireless. They do support wireless via the USB dongle and Bluetooth as well.

@@ZadiusTech so with the audeze penrose you can connect the usb to the ps5 and use Bluetooth to connect to your phone and hear both playback simultaneously so for example I would use it to be able to talk on discord on my phone while still hearing the audio from the ps5 at the same time

Hey whats your opinion about the battery life? i don't think it can go the 80hrs as advertised. I've used mine for rought 15 hours and its down to 66% . If my Math is right then this thing wouldn't go past 50hrs and couple of people on reddit have similar experience with their Audeze

Great video man! Did you experience any whitenoise with these? Small nitpick, would be awesome if you didn't shake the items with every word when you are holding them up with the camera, makes it difficult to see all the details :D

Hi, while I am still testing them so far I haven't experienced any noticeable white noise. I did however experience some audio artifacts when listening via USB and I changed the sample rate to 96Khz on my Macbook Pro, but as soon as I changed it back to 48Khz it was fine. Thanks for the feedback, you aren't the first person to tell me about shaking the items while I'm filming. I try to hold them up so I can rotate them and give a better view of the specific thing I'm talking about on the headset. What would be a better alternative? Should I just leave them flat on the table and you just stare at a a static image with the occasional hand gestures? Should I just have b-roll looping through the entire video? I'm trying to find a middle ground that doesn't make it harder for me and boring for the viewer.

The headset is apparently a bit better than the Penrose & Mobius for the sound quality, but for now it don't seems to have as low bass than P & M based on the lack of software personalisation. The Maxwell have better frequency, so it has the potential to be better with a software update that release some profiles personalisation instead of preset ones.
