No production car has a twincharged engine that I can recall in the last 10 years. Having twincharging is a special experience esspecially when it comes to torque. Btw the B58 & 2JZ are a totally different class of engine, this is not a conversation of 500hp and above. How can you compare a 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder!? You can't honestly compare cars/engines of totally different classes. Nobody said it was the best engine compared to anything else! The 1.4 is only for small pocket rockets. A car that normal people can actually afford. Not everyone has money pouring to put into a 2JZ, B58 etc.

My advice ? Don't consider ANY VAG (VW group) product. Boring, bland, unreliable and designed to fail. Either get something japanese, or any BMW older than the E46 (the latter excluded) if you really want something german.

Back in 2002 my first car was an Opel Vectra 2.5 V6 170hp. It was faster than this little crap to 100 and had far better top end. I just find that kind of funny tbh. Especially when this is tuned, has supercharger + turbocharger, and more power and less weight 🤭

It can not. But it is colose. I own a S1 and hat a Fabia VRS with Revo St. 1. bevore. The 1.4 TSI is winner in throttleresponse and smooth reving above 5 rpm. The S1 is winner in punch and traction. For this A1 i recomend PU Bushings for the rear axle an the torquearm.

A bit slow with 210hp i have the same engine only in a skoda fabia vrs saloon stage 1+ with 217hp on the dyno and my time with dragy is 0-100 6.2 sec and 100-200 18 sec

Depends on how you measure it. The speedometer reached 200 kmh 8 sec sooner than the app which could make a huge difference on a 100 to 200 time with that kind of power range.

@@rhd2220 I am afraid, that engine is gone, like so much of the 1.4 Twincharger. Most St. 1 go in 15 Sec. from shifting point 4-5 to 5-6. Stock do it in 18 Sec. This one lasts 20 Sec. With a bit of luck the engine is still good and only the wastegate do not close completely.

@@rhd2220 There are lots of things that we need to have in mind while measuring acceleration times. Weather, temperatures, tire compound, tire pressure, wind speed and so on. For example, let's talk about ambient temperatures which affect the intake temps. So, when I was on the dyno with my Megane RS 265, it made 276hp when it was about 20 degrees celsius at the dyno, but the other day when it was 8 degrees, it made 282,5hp stock.

Have you driven one? I’ve had the arse out on mine a few times in the wet. Has a weight transfer to the front on liftoff. Very fun drive and smokes almost anything in its class. Can even punch above it’s weight when you get get it right.

Honestly, I drive an A1 with a stage 1 tune (also 210hp) and stage 2 s-tronic and I cannot believe this is the same car. It sounds pretty dull in the video and it seems slow, but driving it is absolute fun and with my custom exhaust (not straight piped though) the experience is better too. I'm very happy to see this car and more affordable cars in general on this channel but the video does not portray the character of the car well at all.

@@jackshoots5312 That sounds cool man. Jumping between the 1.4tsi and the 1.6 expboost a few years ago, the 1.4 picks up better but I just feel that the 1.6 can get work done. Especially once it’s modded. I currently have a revo stage 2 MK8 fiesta ST sitting at 265bhp and 425nm at 2,200rpm. Running 13.8 seconds 100-200 on dragy. This just seems way slower like? I dunno? I keep up with golf R’s and all 2.0 VAG engines. Cupra Atteca etc. til about 125 then they have the advantage of the extra horses. As for handling, the mk8 has a sublime sense of connection. Purposeful lift off oversteer and with the PS4’s and Diff, a sense of being on rails everywhere!

A 210 hp car shouldn't struggle that hard to get to 200kph, so it's probably due to the turbo giving out at higher rpm/speed or it's pulling timing. It's what they say, there's no replacement for displacement. Second launch more than half a second slower! Further adding to the suspicion it's pulling timing due to knock/overheating from ragging on it during the course of making the video. Man... they don't build 'em like they used to.

If that is a naturally aspirated engine, then no. A tune isn't going to do anything. NA engines require bolt-ons to breathe better (intake/exhaust) and have less mechanical load (lightweight pulley/fliywheel/pistons/rods), that gives you more power. There might also be a restriction in your gearbox.

@@Infinity_tp depends. Find out which major components you have, see online if they have had success in the past. Especially things like the gearbox, differential, base engine. Though i have to stress that youre likely going to have to religiously change oil, sooner than stated in the book. Also look into catch can replacers for PCV and EGR deletes to reduce the contamination in the cilinder head and oil pan.

@@Infinity_tp The 1.8 does like to use a bit of oil, from what I read. If yours is doing this too, it might be a sign the piston rings are worn. Adding turbo boost probably results in a lot of blow-by and eventually damage. If it doesn't consume oil, it might be in good shape.

And even then, those are hardly doing any lifting, it barely reaches 200kph in the video. That Corolla T sport earlier in the week had 18hp less and it didn't have this much difficulty reaching 220kph. I think it's pulling timing. Second launch was also a lot slower 0-60.
