I can remember seeing some of the very first A1 models arrive at my dealership in 2010. The anticipation of Audis lovely premium supermini was huge, and only previous Audi customers were invited to the launch party, which meant i had to wait two weeks before i could cast eyes on a stunning Red & Silver S line model. Typically Audi, they had loaded the showroom car with so many extras that i can remember it costing £32000, way beyond my budget, so i went away mightily impressed at the superb build quality, but disappointed thinking it was way beyond my budget. Five years later after a great deal of saving, i am taking ownership of a Nano Grey Metallic & silver Roofline 1.6TDI Sport, my dream has become reality.

I don't really understand the comments about "The lack of feel" through the steering? What sort of comment is that? That is just something to fill a review! "Self Centering" is created by adding "Positive Castor" to the front struts making the steering heavier and giving "Feel" through the steering. It also make the steering heavy at low speeds. Power steering damps out the mechanical connection with the driver to the steered wheels at the front. You can't make a production car that has both "Feel and light steering" Manufacturers sell to the mass market and most general motorists won't buy a car that has heavy steering. The same applies to the comment about the "S line" model. I have just bought a 2011 S Line model to use as an everyday car and occasional track day car. I'm happy to have the firm ride so that it works well on the track day events. Everyone has the choice with the spec they buy, based on what they want to do with it! It can't be AUDI's fault that UK roads are littered with pot holes, that make the drive in the S line, a bit bumpy! The reviewer should have highlighted that as the real problem as opposed to advising people not to buy that particular model.

+blackatron666 I got a 2013 A1 1.6TDI Sline colored white with a black top, and my god. Its a road rage, great overall. Prefer it over a mini any day.
