Audi A3 8p ignition barrel removal

Hi thank you for this video it helped me a lot an I want to add somme tips after i successfully changed my ignition by myself. 1:48 there are 2 clips that you have to push so the module can come of , you have to push down the module and keep it under tension and with a small screwdriver push those clips( you can see in this video where the clips are and use your imagination where they will be on the module, u can see both with a flashlight and they are pretty hard to reach) 2:12 try to pop that thing out more softly and don't change it's position( i dont know why, another video recommended that) 2:30 i did not have to remove those 4 t8 bolts , after you unlock the clip on the left side there is a smal place where you can fit a screwdriver and easily remove the module, on the right side sadly i forgot so figure it out by yourself. 3:23 in this video the dash bord is off maybe even the windshield so you had a position to drill and chisel those 2 screws. If you have you dash bord on like me here is what you need: a hammer, a really god screwdriver(hard as a chisel) and a drill with a drill bit that fits your screwdriver, mine was a 0.8 drill bit, now on the right side you have space to position the screwdriver on the bolt and loosen it so you can unscrew it ( you have to have faith 😂 because it will take about 40-60 hits to loosen that bolt, you have to easily carve a trench in that bolt). After you are successful on the right side if you look at the left side trying to get a good position is impossible( took me 2 hours to realize this) i drilled a 0.8mm whole tru that plastic so i can have a god position to unscrew that bolt whit my screwdriver and hammer.

Thank you for those extra tips, your right it was easy for us to remove due not have the dash therefore having that extra room and not to worry about space.. Guys these are top tips and will further help you to remove the ignition barrel 👍

Those bolts that are supposed to be drilled in, they must also come out

Does it need to be coded when changed new ignition swich and barrel?

Hi yes coded or you have to change the ecu kit, the key fob with motherboard etc etc

No but squib sensor aka clockspring will need to be calibration or reset via obd scanner it's also worth mentioning to remember the position you removed it from and fit it same way , observation is the man skill in this line of work good luck
