What a great review. I can’t understand the hate against this awesome reviewer. I like Matt of carwow, but James is also doing a really good job and his reviews are joyful yet really informatives. There is place for 2 good reviewers (and even more of course). Please show him some support... oh and by the way, this is a cool car !

3 more changes inside at first glimpse (which you forgot to mention): * New steering wheel (smaller inner circle, more sporty), * White interior lightning (was red), * New MMI (and new MMI controls, now with 2 buttons on sides compared to 4 previously). Outside changes are as follows: * New headlights with new all-weather lights * New front grille and bumper * Rear lights Technology changes: * New 7-speed DSG * New more powerful engines ...and more which I am not going to mention. Please get all the facts before saying it's the world's most minor facelift.

I feel that it's unfair for him to say the rear seats of so many of his test cars are wide enough; he sits so close to the steering wheel. You can see that the passenger seat is in a more common position. Maybe use that to compare legroom.

A very good review. I own the exact model you drive with a few extras. List Price about (now) £24k. I looked at the VW Golf as will, but my priorities were sports seats and (at least xenon) decent headlights. You have to go for the GT model Golf to get the seats and pay @ £1K for the lights. So that specced up was about £29k (a Golf GTI is much, much better value as this is all standard and only slightly dearer). A Ford Focus Titanium X (similar spec as my A3) is about £25K, so the A3 if sensibly specced up (don't forget there is a lot of standard equipment on the A3) could easily be cheaper that a lot of "non-prestige" brands. Plus the great resale price makes PCPs much cheaper to run the Audi (esp as you can get a discount like I did). As you said James the 1.0 TFSI is fab in the A3, and when you put your foot down I love the noise it makes (like a mini 911?...). The handling is much better than many as the engine weighs 75kg, so there is nothing heavy on the front end and it doesn't understeer like the Passat I used to own. Overall an excellent, quality product (mines 14k miles and a year in and it feels as new as the day I bought it) :-)

I’ve just watched your review of the Hyundai i30 where you criticised the interior for being dark, black and dull despite the soft plastic materials... now I want you to explain why you’re not making the same complaint about the Audi’s dark and dull interior then...

Going from a Mark 7 Golf to this A3 and you will realise how lacking the Audi is on interior storage space. Albeit the Audi is overall a much nicer car, but it is little things that make the VW an overall more complete package.
@ayrtonoc3 жыл бұрын
Audi is about refinement of things. Polishing and smoothing a stone almost perfect. And like always, when you go from 90% to 98% you need to pay A LOT for that final step of refinement.
