I owned a 2011 A4 B8. Although it was my daily driver, I babied the car with on time maintenance and OEM Audi parts. Even with that great treatment, the rear mirror felt, the radiator failed, the alternator failed, the transmission failed (again this was an A4, not a S4) and finally the engine locked itself (it did NOT for lack of oil [nice try trolls!!]. Even an "Audi mechanic expert" told me they couldnt find the reason why the engine locked itself). So I decided to have the engine rebuild which took 1 month to an "Audi expert" (which is the mechanic who couldnt say why the engine locked itself). On the following 3 months (after the rebuilt was done), I had to bring the car back the shop 6 times for engine issues "which were covered for a 2 year guarantee". Finally, at the 5th month of the rebuild, I was able to enjoy a "new" fresh engine and let me tell you, it was awesome with no problems. It really felt like a brand new car for another 4 months. So after 1 year after the engine rebuild, I decided to upgrade to stage 2 and tune the ECU with IE which made the car fun to drive, but exciting to drive. Moreover, 2 weeks after the upgrade, the engine begun to consume a lot of oil, to the point that I had to carry a 1 qt with me all the time (yes, 1 year after yhe engine was rebuild). 2 months after the upgrade, the OEM turbo gave up. I bought a used turbo (same iki k03 oem) because at that point I was sick and tired of the car...... Thus... I learned my lesson and I will pass it the lesson (in written) to you so you dont have to be the laughter of others..... if you just want to be an "Audi owner" go A4, BUT MAKE SURE IS A B8.5... by the way, dont waste your money trying to get power out of the A4's 2.0T (yes there are a couple of youtubers that pumped tons of money in this cars, and I knowone that is capable to keep up with 5.0 Coyotes, but remember, they spend the money they make in youtube and they have sponsors....) Instead, if you have some money and you still want a fun german car with a 2.0 turbo, just buy a new Golf R or buy a S4 B8.5 (now I own an 2015 A6 with the 3.0 supercharged, and I cant be more happier, but Im saving money to pay for the transmission whenever it fail) If you have a good pocket, then go TTRS or RS3 with the 2.5 turbo, you will have a lot of fun!! And well, if you have deep pockets, please stay away from small cars (leave those to broke peps like me) and go RS7, C55 AMG, M5 comp CS, Shelby 500, etc, etc...

for a b8.5 what do you think mileage wise would be smart to get
@erickvallad4189 Жыл бұрын
@@jeanguerrero-qk5vm of course as with any other car, the lower the mileage, "the better" the car "will be"... however, for an A4 platform, I will say a 60K if there is no major repairs done by current owner, if current owner replaced only the trasmission and you want at least 3 years of a "good" running car, I will say 90k. On the S4 platform 60k with no major repairs, 90k with transmission and/or supercharger repair, 130 with all three

Hey man, looking to pick up an A4, but don’t know much ab german cars (mainly american and japanese). How would you tell which A4 has a b8 or a b8.5? I’m looking at some 2015 and 2016 A4s. Do those have the b8.5? I just want the most reliable A4 I can get, so just letting me know how to know which car has what engine would help a ton. Thanks.
@erickvallad4189 Жыл бұрын
@@ssjhellspawn221 if you want a "reliable" A4, the straight is, get the B8.5 which was made from 2012 to 2015. On the 4 platform (...B7, B8, B8.5 etc, etc...) there are 3 engines: 1.8T, 2.0T and V6 withOUT a supercharger (the superchargers are on the S4, A6 and A7 platforms). There are some A4s that are front wheel drive (Fwd) and others that are quattro (Awd). The fwd was released with a continuous variable transmission (CVT). DO NOT BUY A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE even if it is "the deal of a life time". How do you know what engine/drivetrain you are getting on your "new car"? Any B8.5 comes only with a 2.0T, then get yourself a bit dirty by laying on your back on the floor and see if there is a driveshaft going to the rear of the car... if there is one, it is a quattro (i think the fwd was not available on the B8.5 but I could be wrong). Of course the easy way is to see the "quattro" emblems all around the car, but nothing wrong by getting a bit dirty on the floor Disclaimer: Im NOT a car advisor, nor a professional, what I write is just my opinion. You are on your own and at your own risk on any aspect/regard of buying a car.

@@erickvallad4189 Thank you so much man. Like I said, I don’t know shit about german cars really but want a nicer/luxurious car and was looking into the A4 or maybe a C class Mercedes. I am looking at AWD A4’s (live in the midwest and winter suck), so definitely wouldn’t even consider the FWD lmao. So I’m looking at a few A4s, some are 2015s and then I saw a 2016 and a 2017. Are the ones after 2015 bad also? I’m assuming it’s a different engine in those as well. I was reading on forums the 2013-2015 are the best because it solved the oil consumption problems with the B8. Going to test drive some today and this weekend. Thanks again man, really appreciate it.

I have a 2012 a4 2.0t Quattro and I’ve loved it so far besides a couple issues. I’ve had to replace the transmission and injectors which was the biggest issues but other than that just maintenance. I just got it back after replacing brakes, rotors, oil change, timing chain gasket, valve cover gasket, plugs, and coil packs. The mechanic put Liqui Moly oil in it and said he did the same with his and oil consumption is way down!

A lot of oil consumption is 1 qt per tank. Toyota camry 2002 2.4cyl

I just got that exact car, how common is the timing failure issue?

Do you still have to use a couple of 1qt oil before you do any oil change for 3k miles? Or does it last until 3k miles?

Have you had any transmission problems? Is it S-tronic like in Europe? And those engines are known for streched timing chains at about 200k km so have you done anything for that? Looking to buy one in a few months.
@ishttv. Жыл бұрын
They don’t have any problems with trans it oil burning and the turbo waste gate going bad but other then at that’s the most common. The Audi b8 S4’s have the trans problems!

That is why people tend to go fro b8.5 with a4’s or s4’s

@@ishttv. Are you from Europe because we have here 7 speed dual clutch in gasoline variants of A4 and they all have problems with mechatronics. Im not sure if north america has S-tronic in these so thats why I’m asking if there has been any issues.

The US have gotten these with ZF trans.
