Buying a 5th scale as a canvas and mounting it is a great idea. I think, especially with the moulded details, these bodies have such a lot of features to look at, that it might be more of an eyecatcher than a regular painting. Got a few cool projects lined up in which I will try to up the bar a bit for myself!

I live in Norway nowadays, but Holland has plenty of very well sorted RC stores. I'm sure you'll be able to find some parts for your Tamiya on your visit!

Wow Man! I got back into RC after a 15 year leave of absence two years ago. I do off road stuff, but was trying to figure out how to paint a Desert Militia body for an E-Revo that I built from the ground up. There are a lot more contours and crevices in RC bodies now. Just wanted to check out some painting and trimming tips. However, you set the bar high! Thanks, I learned alot! Amazing work on this body. I just spent the last hour and a half checking out this project.

polis1mbit Hi Polis, the black ones on this build came from RC Car Online in Germany. I got them on a sale, I believe they were 50 euros for the entire set. I don't know if they still have them, and if they do, if they cost the same, but they are nice!

I don't think you do. I think you drive it until it's beat, then get another body and paint it up. If there's one thing I've learned about RC, it's that there's no use crying over a scratched or torn body. It just comes with the territory and you will eventually need to replace your current body with a new one as they will eventually get ruined if you're driving them, especially if you're racing or bashing off-road vehicles. That being said, light surface scratches can likely be removed using a plastic polish, like Meguiar's PlastX. It's designed for polishing hazed plastic headlight covers on real cars, but I've found that it works well on many clear plastics for removing surface imperfections and hazing. I even just recently used it to polish scratches out of an acrylic watch crystal, and it worked amazingly well. To speed the polishing process, you can use a Dremel tool with a cotton polishing wheel.
