Well it seems that when you go in to work on one thing you fine another problem but we are going to make sure that they car is running as good as new when we are done.

What was wrong with the engine at 1st

Got my attention when you pulled it w/o taking the f/e off AND leaving most of the accessories attached! Nice work! I'm pulling my BWT motor this holiday season. Same reason, ferrous metal and low oil pressure warning. I'll be documenting the whole process as well.

I'm not sure there can be small differences depending on year.

Yes I did it by jacking the engine a little but you need to be careful but its doable.

Thinks it's possible to fit a 2.5 rs3 motor in ? That's my plan if i dont fully build a 2.0

Its not too bad but its also dirty.

after cleaning it it is rusting on the hot side the cool side is powdercoated and is good.

Hi ,how much hp did you get at the end of the whole project?

I think the car is around 300hp /330tq at the wheels. I have seen people push it further with this setup but i want it to be reliable for daily use.

Where are you located? We bought an Audi A4 without knowing that it had an oil consumption issue. We tried returning it , since we found out a few days after we got it. It was a very stressful situation. No Lemons Laws here in Canada.

i found some metal in the pan so i wanted to find out where it came from and do the bearings while im at it.

How much does it cost to rebuildt that kind of engin?

I don't think its a ton of money just alot of time and labor to do it. Also if there are any major parts broken that can jump the price. but if your just replacing the gaskets and bearings I think the whole job can be done for under a grand. But if you have major damage the price shoots up like oil pump/heads/ pistons are damaged.

Certain things should be followed up... Why did it had metal shavings? Were you able to salvage the CH and block? I wish you would the a price list or at least go over what went wrong, what was done, and any follow up after-build issues??!!

it was the thrust washer that caused the shavings. Luck nothing was damaged and we just needed to clean everything really well. Not sure why it went bad maybe it was not sitting correctly. As for as a price list i just got the engine rebuild kit from ECS tuning. I don't have the car any more but I did put 8k on the rebuild with no issues.

@@ProjectZGarage ok, thanks for the update. I think I have read the manual version suffers from crankwalk, not affected on DSG transmission. Wow! 8k... uff that is a lot, so unfortunate these cars have so many lubrication issues. and I am complaining am almost done w mine 2k down.

Where is the flywheel how did you get it off before pulling the engine out

We had to pull the tranny first to get to the fly wheel. Most people say to pull the engine and tranny together.

Removing the front end takes 20 minutes. Easy.

yeah i should of done that but we were being lazy and we wanted to see if it was possible to remove it with out putting it in the service position.
