Great thing about the 2.0 TFSI is that you don't have to change the oil, you just add it!

Always always make sure you check oil level to be sure you got enough oil in the engine. Don't just assume about 4.9 quarts is fine and you're done. The 2.0 doesn't have a dipstick so go into your MMI screen and select oil level, then make sure the oil level bar is full. Very easy to do and it saves you a lot of frustration.

the location of the oil filter in this engine is specially designed to prevent oil spills, you just have to unscrew it and lift it vertically. No need for a rag.

I don't think you're supposed to use a wrench/tool when tightening the new filter. Hand tighten only is what I was always told.

RRAS Tutorials yeah only reason I mention it is because on some cars, the filter will tighten significantly more on it's own (not exactly sure how) and I have had to resort to jamming a long flat head screwdriver THROUGH an oil filter to remove it. Strap wrenches wouldn't fit in the small space and the socket wrench attachement that slips over on top of the filter just stripped the grooves on the end of the filter so that was useless. It was to the point where dremeling the filter into pieces was going to be the only remaining option. It got that way because the previous person who did the oil change used the oil filter wrench socket and a BREAKER bar to tighten the thing :o

Take off the oil fill cap to allow air in the engine and drain faster. You can get OEM filters from ECS Tuning for ~$12.

Just changed the oil and filter in my 2014 A4 that I bought with 105K miles... Just loosen the filter 3-4 turns and wait. You will notice that oil in filter starts draining from drain hole in the pan. After a minute or two, remove the oil filter. It will be almost dry and no spill. It is helpful to have an oil filter end cap type filter removal tool.
@szbert
@szbert 7 жыл бұрын
You forgot to open the oil fill cap to let air in. That allows the oil to drain faster and more completely. This is somewhat offset by removing the old filter. Otherwise, nicely done.

Thanks. Nice vid n str8 to the point . Changing my oil this evening when it gets a lil cooler in Miami . 2011 A4 here. Dealer wants 240. got a bottle of 0w-40 casterol full synth n a 10600 filter for 35 total. I got the ph10600. So il just change filter with oil every time. Vs the xg10600 I believe it's called but you can go 15k miles with that same filter for 31 bucks alone n the 5k filter is 11. There were no savings benefits in getting that filter with 15k vs changing it Every time

+Max Walters Hey Max, thanks for checking out my video. I did some research on the oil. It looks like the Castrol 0w-40 full syntec isn't a recommended oil for Audi. Castrol 5w-40 syntec does meet Audi spec and you can use that. On the oil container it should mention that it meets VW 502 00. The list of oils are listed on the audiusa website. I will add a link in this video description to the list. Good luck, my friend!

Thanks for the video. Where did u purchase the oil filter? I like to add that u should leave the oil cap open or partially open to facilitate the oil drainage better and faster. I normally let the dealer do mine for 69.99 or 89.99. How much are u saving by doing yourself? I think they use synthetic oil (Castrol). Good job buddy for educating the KZbin community.

Thanks Ebutouy! That filter I purchased from Advance Auto but I recommend The MANN filter W719/45 from Amazon. This filter is great quality and pretty close to the OEM filter. The oil costs me $25 from Walmart and the filter $13 so total is about $40. My dealer charges $90 so its a pretty decent savings for me. Also, I didn't mention in the video but remember to change the drain plug gasket or it may leak oil.

@indianajosh96

RRAS Tutorials take off the cap on the engine to allow air to flow through so it drains not only faster but gets it all out, but first warm up the oil by taking it around the block so its easier. Also, when its done draining clean where the oil came out because that can cause it to come off. I know all the this from a cousin that graduated from a mechanical school, he taught me everything I need to know about maintaining my car. You need to see a pro cuz you made a lot of mistakes!

I am trying to decide if I should buy a used Audi A4 quatro premium with 50K for about 18K miles or new Camry 2017. I usually do all mechanics work for my camry such as brakes, oil and change suspension. For the Audi I have no clue. So I am scared about the reliability issue and how expensive the Audi fix can be such as electrical issues. Also the person who owns the audi puts regular fuel all the time. How bad that can affect the engine or turbine. Appreciate your opinion. Thanks

@EverydayDoIt
@EverydayDoIt 8 жыл бұрын
+zofa300 Hey zofa, I had a 2009 Camry before I had the Audi. I had the same question before I decided to get the Audi. The reason why I decided to go with the Audi is because I can do my own simple maintenance and I really wanted all wheel drive for the long commutes in the snow. One thing I noticed when I sat in the Audi compared to the Camry was the quality of materials used. It seemed like there was more attention to detail put into constructing Audi. And there is always the issue of new vs used because you never know how the previous owner treated the car and plus the car will have the usual wear and tear. But if you decided to go used make sure to get 2012 or newer because of the massive oil consumption on previous 2.0T engine models. Good Luck on your decision! Cheers!

First off, good video. End to End. But please for the love of god, don't use Euro spec oil, and then end up using chineese pep boys/AA paper filters..... (unless you plan to change filters ever 3k, and in that case don't do an oil change and just change filters 4 times before the next oil change). Just use a proper GERMAN filter like MANN made for German cars. And they actually cost less than the store down the street.
