Extremely useful indeed and a huge thanks. It saved me from giving up and going to the garage for a £500+ bill (parts and labour). It took a lot of viewings of the section around 1min 40 secs to see what happened in that magic twist but I got there. Many thanks.

The problem with the way this guy shows you how to rewire the regulator, is that you won't get the tension you need in the wire by following his instructions. You need to start by threading the spool and finish by putting the cable around the wheels. Trust me, I followed plenty of crap guides but found a really easy way of getting the right tension without straining myself.

You'll notice that the wheels are actually designed to make it easy for you to get the wire round. Easy, once you know what you're looking at!

This is an extract from a guide I wrote: 19. Once you have the retainers and lugs in place, the slightly tricky part of getting the cable round all the wheels begins. The cable should be quite tightly tensioned when you finish so you’ll know if you've done this next bit right. Look at the wheels at the top and bottom of each stanchion, they should have an arrow head shaped section sat on each. Face the tip of each ‘arrow’ towards the regulator. You should then be able to feed the cable round the back of the arrow head (not the wheel itself). You should have all 4 arrow heads loaded (which can take a little while) and then you can move onto tensioning the system. 20. If you look closely at the tip of each arrow head, you should notice that it is actually designed to lower the cable into each wheel. On the middle of each wheel, you should also notice some teeth. This is how you’ll tension the system without straining yourself. You’ll need a pair of (not too long) needle nosed pliers to place in the teeth and turn the wheel. Press down on the cable just above/below each wheel in each stanchion and turn the wheel using the pliers to load the cable. You should be able to do this easily for all 4 and once done, you’ll notice that the springs on the regulator have almost fully compressed. Ready to put everything back in the door! Hope that helps!

i have a A4 b5-chassis, and my window regulator broke. Only the plastic suport os of the glass. I live in Brazil, with very potholed streets, and these plastic parts do not last long. Exists for my model strong metal supports like that in the video?
