Audi A5 Sportback In-Depth Review | Worth the extra money over an A4?

Too right it is. I don’t think there is a bad angle on the thing, it’s my favourite looking car. I am seriously considering getting one, I’m just a bit concerned about the reliability.

Strange that in your conclusion, you completely dismissed the practicality of the hatchback. I love what I can carry in it, particularly with one, two or all rear seats down.

I agree, although the A4 Avant is much more practical than this A5.

Having had an A4 and A5 Sportback if you have a family the A4 is better. The A5 sits low and is harder to get in and out of for kids etc, but if you dont need to worry about that the A5 is better in every other way.

I think that's a good sum up! If you have wife/kids, an A4 (avant, better still) would be better. Else, this one.

Kids and women are short. I don't understand why a higher vehicle would be better than a lower vehicle. My neighbors family hates his Ford Raptor. That thing is jacked in the sky.

I have an A4 company car and going to switch over to an A5 (with more options as wel). With two kids in the back, the sloping roofline should not be that of an issue. Contrary the hatch opening in the boot makes the car more practical to carry bigger items.

Good video, however I would say that the A5 Sportback is more practical for transporting bulky or unusual items. Don't get be wrong, I don't carry doors around regularly but I could probably fit one in the back of my A5.

A5 is more expensive than the A4 but it’s better in every way, from space/comfort to exterior design.

Confused as to why you would say the A4 is more practical. I thought that was the whole point of a hatchback over a saloon. My dog definitely prefers a hatch over a boot!

Was more from a rear seat space point of view. But you’re certainly right, dog owners would be better suited with the Sportback for the hatch boot opening!

Yes, and there’s more to a car than just practicality anyway. Too many car reviewers over emphasise the importance of this in their reviews I find , even for coupe reviews , as though most people in the market for a coupe will be putting practicality at the top of their list !?!? The A5 even in sportsback is much better looking than an A4 which is far more ordinary and mundane looking. Some people may want a coupe looking car with a little more practicality - I think that’s the gap that this would fill. Simply saying go for an A4 instead is a somewhat of a layman’s view.

@@SupermanOG It comes down to who you are as a person and what you need the car for. I have an A4 saloon and agree with @Parkers Cars There is more practicality in the A4 especially if you have a family. A5 and A7 are great alternatives if you want a more sporty option. I prefer Audis but if you want performance solely invest in BMWs.

@@DanA-yr9pn well I agree with that. It fundamentally boils down to what you want out of a car and what’s important to you. I just think it’s a cop out to simply say “just go for an A4 if you want an A5”. Well no, because the A5 looks better which may have a greater importance for some when buying a car.

@@davidc.7838 I thoroughly enjoy the car. It’s beautiful and gets so many compliments. Its a great drive, very comfortable. I did add a strut tower brace and larger diameter sway bars for a bit more stability / control. The interior combo (rock gray and black) is striking and the tech is an appropriate level for its class. I will say that I do miss the MMI controller of my previous S3. The touch screen is awesome but is such a reach…not a fan. Love the car 🚙.

Great review, nice car and that body shape is stunning, although looks so much better in coupe form. I think it's funny, that when comparing it to the A4 and the negatives of the A5 these are probably plus points for anyone looking to buy the A5, if not then they wud of just bought an A4 in the first place ?

Audi A5 share parts with VW Passat but just that it looks a bit more fancier by paying thru the noise. The water pump made from plastic material that get broken or melt down . Best Avoid buying A5 and any Audi . The cost of maintenance will kill you after a few years when warranty runs out and generally people get a new one instead . That why it call a money pit .

Absolute rubbish. Just check out the Parkers owners reviews. 90% say it is the best car they have ever owned.

@@lestrem11 Just check with most mechanics, AUDI like VW use plastic unreliable water pumps and lot of other electrical issues . Parker's or whatever car reviews are not always accurate and biased always. Only real owners and mechanics will know the true stories about this A5. In summary ,everyone knows A5 is a RUBBISH DUSBIN GERMAN CAR. Only AUDI fanboys like yourself admire it while the rest treat A5 like a cheap DIRT.

Check out Parker’s owners reviews….90% of reviews say the A5 3.0 tdi is the best car they have ever had. And yes , I have one and it is the best car I have ever had…..
