Just an FYI. The bracket that is still attached to the car, and partially in the way at 4:10, is removeable 😊 it's tightened down with 2x hex bolts + clips in front and sides (front as towards you). If someone is to attempt a 4" speaker 😊

You would get much better sound if you seal around the speaker. You could have broken the arms off the old speaker housing and used it as a base to mount the new speaker, but if you've already thrown it away (I gather you would have after a year) you can just put some rubber around the gaps. The speaker needs to push against the air, but currently a lot of it will be going around the outsides of the speaker, so you will be losing a lot of your bass response as a result.

Great tip! I will do that when I replace my center speaker. Thanks

yeah so the reason they say 3.5" is because a 4" will not fit. ASK ME HOW I KNOW. notice how at around 4:10 he has to tip it in sideways to get it in the hole? ask yourself how you're going to do that with a 4" speaker with a full size magnet. even IF you manage to get it in there somehow, the chances are very high that it would bottom out in the cavity and you wouldn't even be able to mount it. do NOT buy a 4" speaker for a C7.

You can remove the bracket that is in the way at 4:10, many 4 inch speakers will fit in regards to the hole depth 😊

Hi,mine it’s cracked and makes a terrible noise,would it make a big difference if I just remove it?
@ronnbot9 ай бұрын
Yes, but both good and bad: it eliminates the distortion, but you'll lose some sound because there is no setting to divert audio from the center channel to other speakers.

I am going to buy the same speaker, I hope it works fine. Do you know the diameter of orig speaker ?
@ronnbot2 жыл бұрын
The original was almost 4", but all of the sites I've looked at site says 3.5" is the replacement and I agree from experience. I don't 4" from a 3rd party would fit.

@@AndroidTools If you're planning on re-soldering the connector like he does, I would do a battery test on the old speaker to find out what polarity is correct. (Use a 9V battery, or even a AA) When you have the leads jumpered properly your speaker will push outwards. Match the polarity the battery shows and that's your positive/negative side..
