Nice car, but very expensive - options, options, options! And it needs them to look and feel snazzy. Very entertaining and professional Review once again from Thomas, great driving and commentary. Yes, we certainly appreciate all the prior data research, preparation, planning, videoing and editing that goes into these productions. Don't change Thomas! Best wishes.

Not the case here for the advice "go with the highest displacement and lowest amount of power". The low spec 3.0tdi (around 240hp I believe) gets S-Tronic (DSG) gearbox, the mid spec 3.0tdi (286hp) gets the Tiptronic (ZF gearbox), which being a classic converter gearbox, it's proven to be both more reliable and better for towing. So my advice would be: go with the highest displacement and the lowest amount of power, that gives you a Tiptronic. Hope Thomas acknowledges this. *P.S. This is an exception, but usually the highest displacement and lowest hp is indeed more reliable.

I personally love the A6 allroad. When I saw the first pictures, I was not quite sure. But the first time I saw it in real life and drove it I was blown away. I think the A6 allroad combines the best of the station wagon and SUV world. The large trunk of the station wagon, but also the offroad (or should one say allroad?) capabilities, which in my opinion are in no way less than a Q5, for example. In addition you get the 55 TDI, or also S6, engine in the allroad without fake sound and fake exhaust pipes. And not to forget the looks, where Audi has done a really good job after a few flops.

Another uniquely comprehensive review by Autogeful. Nobody has better production values. The camera's always in the right place, the sound perfectly mixed clear and balanced. Everything created with an artistic sense. I always feel lucky if the car I'm interested is reviewed by Thomas at Autogefuhl.

Thomas, Bought my 2021 A6 Allroad in June after using your site as a valued reference point, and have been loving the last 9 months with it. I lived Europe for 8 years, and had been dreaming about owning an A6 Avant for a very long time. I appreciate the solid feel and power on-demand, along with all the room (I'm a drummer). I keep it in Dynamic mode almost all the time, as I believe it looks best in that low stance. I also had the dealer install the A6 sedan's upgraded wheels in lieu of the Allroad's stock turbines, as that allowed me make the car quite distinctive and keep the painted fenders. The car is Arctic white, and with the after-market tint, has been compared to a Star Wars "Stormtrooper". The only gripe I have is that the HUD glass in the dashboard can throw a distracting reflection in the window at certain sun angles. I had an A5 Sportback before this car, and also noticed it in that HUD. Have you seen this condition in any of your tests? Keep up the great work, I think your comprehensive reviews are the best thing out there. Tschüss.

Very surprised because the 50 tdi is known for engine problems. The gearbox is a disaster. Lots of delays to speed up. hollow motor, no torque because the engine speed is too low. I have my allroad for 8 months and I am starting a complaint against Audi. This car has several malfunctions. Engine, gearbox,electric trunk, fm / dab reception, mmi, dynamic steering,water in the trunk, plastic noise, bluetooth disconnections.... It is not possible not to see if your test is professional. Please read the automotive forums. The owners start to be crazy because audi doesn't give an answer. I lend you my car if you want to see that.

I owned a 1999 A6 Quatro, it had such poise and balance. It was absolutely magnificent handling mountain Highways throughout British Columbia. Snow, Rain, or Sunny Days, that vehicle just loved to hang. on to the corners. Mine was a rare V-10 and that engine had so much juice. Why did Audi terminate the varied choices of engines??

You invited us into your relaxing Thomas' driving lounge, thank you; I believe you when you said the car was relaxing, even your delivery was more 'laid back' or relaxed then your usual review. I wish we could get the diesel here in the US. I drove a used a6 Allroad and loved it. I won’t pay that much for used, so a new one will do. Can’t wait to order with the Okapi brown leather. Wish there were better colors. Drab grays are not gorgeous. I like the blue and dark brown paints, but would prefer a red/burgundy one. No such luck! The price is very high, but the Mercedes price for e450 All terrain is insane. I am replacing a bmw 328d wagon with sport seats. I would prefer the Allroad sport seats here. My BMW has been a fantastic car. This car has to be that great.

It’s always interesting to me that people will watch a car review of a vehicle in which they have no interest and then set about giving a negative review when they knew they wouldn’t like it beforehand! Just amazing! Anyway, good review by Thomas (as usual) and of a vehicle in which I have a great deal of interest as opposed to another SUV made by anyone. I want a comfortable, fast, good handling, versatile vehicle as our Porsche is just getting more uncomfortable and difficult to drive for long periods of time and in multiple locations. The Allroad and the new MB All Terrain, appear to be just what we are looking for and can’t wait to compare them side by side. The Audi has the edge in my mind because we have an A8L that’s been an awesome vehicle and the overall looks are much more appealing than the All Terrain.

Great review. 😎 Nice comedic bits as well, lol. Haha. 😂 Very nice Audi! 😍 I want to compare it to my current favourite Estate; the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. I would probably buy the Audi if I had the money and reason to buy an Estate. I am willing to pay over €100 000. Worth it. Absolutely amazing, but I checked the spec sheet and spec-ed it. I got up to about €92 000. The fuel economy is really surprising! It may very well be my dream Estate, yes. I have massive respect for the _Autogefühl_ team. You all do an amazing job on putting together these very detailed videos that I trust very much. The work and effort put into these videos are extremely noticeable, so that is amazing. I watch from start to finish. I am excited for a review on potentially my next car, which hasn't been revealed yet. The car is a facelift (or maybe all-new) and will be revealed later this year. Definitely looking forward to that review. I would recommend your videos to others who plan to buy a vehicle or compare it to the competition as well. I use it too. A great channel that sets the benchmark of automotive journalism, so I really respect that. From meeting with engineers and designers to giving information on upcoming models; all that is amazing and adds to the greatness of this channel. Also love the hilarious humour here and there, lol. And I like writing long comments to reflect on the video, which is amazing. 🤗 I do not like leaving such a short comment like, "I like it," or "I hate it," or "ugly," because that is lazy. I love elaborating in detail and adding some extra information on a vehicle, sometimes from ownership or renting experience. I wish all people commenting did, especially under your videos. Thank you so much. Stay safe. ❤ Still your birthday? Hope you had a great birthday. 🤗 Gimme some treats! 😂 I wish I could send gifts as a nice gesture, though.

I'm not exactly sure why, but I can't get the VW Atlas Cross Sport out of my head, everytime I look at this new A6 Allroad, and that was not a compliment. As for the interior, it is quite sporty/striking, the ambient lighting is very techno'esque. Personally, the Volvo wagons design is is more easy on my eyes and pleasant to look at than this new Audi, and their interiors are more elegant as well, but the Audi technology and functionality cannot be ignored at all. I would love to visit one in the flesh.

So, the body color trim option blending in is sort of the main draw in the US; they won't give the us the normal version, so the body color paint option is the closest we can get to having a normal A6 Avant.

This may be the best all round car in the world. If you buy the approx 300hp version, with all the options there is simply nothing that this car cannot do. Cosseted luxury, quiet refinement, state of the art technology, premium elegant styling, speed, handling, utility (it's no green-laner but it has pretty decent offroad and towing capability)....and with the back seats down you can fit a wardrobe in the boot Yes it's expensive....but it's three cars in one - GT cruiser, SUV, and luxury executive car.....all with great build quality.

Mark. I agree with you. It is an impressive all round car. After considering an A8 , Q7 and a Q8 as a replacement for my 10 year old VW Phaeton , I made the decision to order one of these. Thomas's review certainly helped in making my mind up. I have a delivery date here in the U.K. of late October. My one small regret is that the 55TDI is not offered as an engine option here in the U.K. so after much deliberation I have gone for the 50TDI.

@@mary-roserussell8097 I think the new A8 is widely regarded as now being better than the Merc S Class. But the extra Utility offered by the allroad is a real consideration, I'm sure. I'm glad you didn't opt for the big SUVs though - I secretly judge people who do. Unfortunately I can't purchase in this price bracket - which made me very excited to see that Skoda now make a Scout version of the Superb Estate (it's in-between the A4 and A6 in size). However it seems they won't offer it in the UK, at least not at first probably because VAG fear it will cut into the A4 Allroad and Passat Alltrack markets. It doesn't have the adaptive adjustable ride height, but otherwise the spec list is very similar - 90% of the functionality for 75% of the money. Obviously less luxurious. Really hope they are making RHD versions when I'm ready for a change. If not it would be a Passant Alltrack.

@@markheywood8236 Hi Mark. Nice to chat with a fellow enthusiast . By the way....I'm Frank....Mary-Rose's husband....I just use her KZbin logon. I agree with you about the SUV's. We looked at the Q8 in particular but it is a leviathan of a car and we felt uneasy in it. After 10 years with our Phaeton which we had from new....and we had our firts Phaeton for 5 years before that we seriously looked at an A8 as a natural successor. However, we felt it a bit too limozeeny and chauferee if you know what we mean....albeit a very fine car. And then by chance we spotted an A6 Allroad in a showroom and we liked it very much. Our order is for an A6 Allroad Vorspung spec with all the bells and whistles. It has 21 inch wheels which we will probably regret but we are both retired and thsi will be our last "great" car before the funds run out ! Thought long and hard over whether to have the TDI or TFSI but went for the diesel in the end as we travel to Germany quite a bit and the torque helps to keep our end up in the fast lane of the Autobahn ! Thomas's brilliant review informed us about the different quattro system used in both cars and that swung it for us as well to go for the diesel. We didn't know that ! Also it is a very clean engine now we think. Will this car be as good as our beloved Phaeton ? We will wait and see. We did 70,000 miles in our firts P and 120,000 miles in our last one. All trouble free. It was a magnificent car and was vastly underated.
@markheywood8236
@markheywood8236 4 жыл бұрын
@@mary-roserussell8097 Hi Frank. Yeah the A8 is maybe a car to be driven in. I don't think the Phaeton was underrated. People in the know realised it was designed as Piech's operational swansong and was a real premium vehicle. Was it the first place that VAG put the W12 engine?
@mary-roserussell8097
@mary-roserussell8097 4 жыл бұрын
@@markheywood8236 Hi Mark . I think it was. The W12 in the Phaeton was normally aspirated I think but a turbocharged version then went into the Bentley Continental. Both my P's were the peasant spec V6 TDI . However I did drive a mate's V10 diesel once and the torque of that thing could rip the tarmac up ! Min ( missus ) loved our Phaetons. We specced the second one up ourselves and picked it up at the Glasernemanufaktur in Dresden in March 2010.It was a memorable day when it came out behind the screens to the music of Wagner. The German folk always do things well I think. We did 120,000 miles in our boy....many of them in Germany touring all 4 corners. We reluctantly let him go last week.....and we both teared up when we said our goodbyes. I know he was just a piece of metall but he was a cherished boy to us. The good news was that we sold him to a specialist garage....Sarah Cox cars of Nottingham....and he sold in 3 days ! Although they doubled the price they gave to me...plus another 500 squids ! Think I should have been a motor trader. Anyhows it's nice to chat to someone who has a similarar enthusiasm ....and also with your obvious knowledge....approves our choice of replacement. I did look at hybrids and all electrics but they are not for me yet. We will now run this Allroad for 10 years / 100,000 miles ....until I am too decrepit to drive probably. Also ordered through Carfile who obtained a massive discount for me through an Audi dealership. Went to a few local dealerships here who just wouldn't move on price as it was a factory order. Hope you are fit and well. Frank

The 2020 Audi A6 Kombi is nicely understated. Let's have the North American market embrace this Kombi. From what I've read Audi USA has specified the base model 2020 A6 Kombi with an array of standard features. My $.02 say the A6 Kombi is a better value for the money than our 2019 MB E450 Kombi. That MB Kombi build $nickeled and $dimed us for every option. Right up to mid $80s USD. Good luck Audi USA.

Thank you , Thomas , for your consistently fantastic in -depth reviews ! I have a question about something that seems to get little or no mention. The dashboard reflection in the windshield. I currently own the 2010 A6 Avant V6/3.0 and before that the 1999 and 2004 versions. My 2010 Avant has a little bit of reflection of the defroster grill/vent along the very bottom of the windshield. I'm wanting to purchase the 2020 A6 Allroad , but when I test drove it, I was surprised to see a strong reflection of all the geometric designs from the dash which project into the middle of the windshield. I find this quite distracting and possibly even dangerous. See 27:01 and 28:29 in your video. I watched your review of the Mercedes GLE 450 and see similar reflections. Maybe less with the BMW X5. I did hear you mention reflections in your review of the Tesla X , about the value of its black dashboard. Is this a design flaw in all modern cars that we have to just accept and learn to " live with it " ? Various sites that discuss this suggest using a black non-reflecting dashmat cover , but there's so much stuff that can't be covered so dashmats don't seem to be a good option. You and others often comment on the infotainment screens and their potential for being a hazardous distraction, but I don't see much discussion of the hazard of these strong reflections in the middle of your view. Any thoughts, help, advice on choosing between Audi , Mercedes , BMW in this regard would be most appreciated ! Thanks again for your superb videos ! And also, thank you for your advocating for sustainable and compassionate alternatives to animal products in automobiles !

As usual a professional review by Thomas. I would love to move up from my A4 allroad to the A6 allroad but its way too expensive, for me and for many others. Beginning to wonder if Audi still wants to be a large share luxury brand with cars from the $40s and up. Or if they have decided to be a smaller, niche brand in future with mostly $80-200k cars. More profitable (margin percentage) but smaller.

The 55tfsi with v6 petrol engine priced at 560,000CNY(70K euros) in China and dealers usually offer 10% off the MSRP. It's such a bargain given that i paid the same price for a A5 45tfsi quattro in 2017, and almost double the price for a Q7 v6 when it lunched in 2015. It's a shame that allroad don't sell here.

Finally! i´ve been waiting for this review almost a year now. i got my A6 Allroad in november last year and driven about 10000 km now with an average consumption of 6,5l/100km. the only thing i don´t like about the car is the gearbox. in the city you have to have it in sportmode to get going from standstill and on the highway it downshifts everytime you hit an small uphill climb, even in speed over 100 km/h and in Sweden the new "normal" speed limit on highways are 80km/h and with that speed you don´t get to use the eight gear. i had plans to visit my friend in Zell am Zee this spring and test the car on the autobahn but due to the coronavirus it will have to wait. Anyways, great review as always, looking forward to the next one. Greetings from Sweden

Thankyou Thomas for your fine and very informative review of the A6 Allroad. I have been seriously considering this particular car as a replacement for my current car for a little while now. I have been running a VW Phaeton V6 Tdi for 10 years now. I purchased it new and picked it up at the Glasernemanufaktur in Dresden in 2010. It has been my daily driver and has now just completed 117,00 trouble free miles. It has been a superb, beautifully engineered car but it is now time for a change. I was considering a new A8 Black Edition but I do like the uniqueness of this A6 Allroad. So, after looking at your review I have this morning, put an order in for a new A6 Allroad Vorsprung in Mythos black. Only additions to the superb spec is the larger fuel tank. I am 72 years of age so this will be my last " great " car before I will have to reluctantly turn to an electric car. I keep my cars for a long time so I intend to keep the Allroad for 8 years / 100,000 miles. My one dillemma was whether to go for the 50 TDi or the 50 Tfsi and I decided to go for the diesel in the end as my wife and I travel to Deutschland twice a year and do big mileage on the Autobahns, driving to Dresden, then on up into Bavaria and then on again to the Island of Sylt each year....one of our favourite places on this Earth ! And it was the diesel for me considering the greater torque for Autobahn driving and the better fuel efficiency. Also these new diesel engines from Audi are very clean. So, your great review helped make the decision for us. I have been told by Audi today that my car will not be built and delivered to the U.K. till late October / early November . So a long wait but a worthwhile one. Also I have to add that my Missus watched your video and thought you cute ! Just thought I would mention that.

@@autogefuehl . Thomas . I wonder if you could help with some information. I'm Frank by the way....I just use my wife's email and Facebook address ! In my post to you last week I told you that we have recently ordered a new A6 50 TDI Allroad Vorsprung spec from a U.K. dealership. Delivery is expected in October. I was just looking at the Deutschland Audi site and I see that the A6 Allroad Vorsprung spec there is available with the TDI 55 engine. Now if I had the choice I woud dearly like that rather than the 50 TDI as it has so much more torque. Do you know if there are any plans to offer the 55 TDI as an alternative in the U.K. market ? If there were I would be persuaded to hang on. Many thanks in advance and greatly enjoy all your car tests and reviews.

Thomas, i have been wanting to comment about your choice of fake leather over real leather for a while now. I totally understand the animal cruelty thing, i agree. BUT, for years i have been warning people about the dangerous effects of off-gassing ☠️ from plastics, particularly leatherettes and certain other soft plastics in cars, that off-gas, that sometimeswe call the "new car smell"? Also, that film on the inside of windshields, that seems to collect a lot quicker than other cars on hot 🌞sunny days hmmmmmmm. 🤨 But my pount really is, that there are some people with immunocompromised and even neurological conditions, who are quite adversely affected 🤢, by the effects of those toxic gasses ☠️, eminating from plastisized leatherettes, etc. 👎🏽 I will say though, that i do like Alcantara, it seems to off gas a lot less... I wont be a hypocrite, my favourite touch and feel and smell is Volvos optional Nappa leather. However if they did offer an alcantara and/or "safe" non-toxic recyclable leathette/alcantara mix, perhaps i then i woukd bite 😉. But for now, my health comes first.
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 4 жыл бұрын
If you talk about toxis gasses, it is exactly another main reason NOT to buy animal skin leather. Car supplier Continental e.g. produces leatherette that is specifically suitable for strong allergies whereas animal skin leather even does harm with skin contact. People who are very sensible against leather chemicals even cannot touch a leather steering wheel. Every "smell" you notice in animal leather seats is artificial. How would rotten animal skin smell like for real? Yeah... it is all perfume. There have been tests especially to protect children, e.g. with animal leather shoes, it is very very dangerous to let children wear real leather shoes as the toxic stuff enters a small body in comparison to an adult. So once again, thanks for your aspect, and it is exactly the other way around than you think.
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 4 жыл бұрын
And as a general overview to the issue... As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@frogthefrog

@Autogefühl hmmmm interesting..Thomas, thank you for bringing this issue to light. Ill play devils advocate, and ask you what are your thoughts on some manufacturers though, using a "chromium free" leather. Here is a piece from Volvo.... "Volvo Cars and Bridge of Weir have been working together now for over thirty years. And during that time, both companies have seen a lot of changes. Changes not only in design but also in manufacturing and processing techniques. Jamie takes up the story, “We used to chrome tan all of our leather, which is the standard tanning method used in the shoe and garment industry. But we worked together with Volvo to develop a chromium-free leather, which is organically tanned with natural agents like chestnut, mimosa and Tara.” Not only is chromium-free tanning better for allergy sufferers, it’s also better for the environment."........... I did notice that cars like the Polestar 2 (not the 1), are using seat materials made from recycled plastic bottles, which logically in practice, is a good thing👍🏾, but you have to understand also, that the plastic industry has damaged human health much more than the Vegan community seems to understand. I hold no water in either side of the debate, i have a familly with young children, so my research continues. One thing that i have discovered though, is that practically every "group" on every side of the debate, has now been COMPROMISED, and/or infiltrated, by some sort of 😈, with an agenda. Does the leather industry as a whole have an agenda? Yes. Does the hardcore Vegan community leaders have an agenda? Yes. I can get philosophical, but clearly, humanity as a whole needs a major RESET. Just like Atlantis, Ancient Greece, Egyptians, Romans, etc, we are now, very close to the end of this chapter as well 😞, because quite frankly, every side is lost..
