6:26 Why not use an electrical impact wrench for the 21mm caliper bolts? Most home mechanics do not have a car lift to allow long breaker bar use.

So all of these C7 gen A6s only have one wear sensor for the front?

My 2017 A6 C7 FWD only had 1 sensor for the front and one sensor for both backs (one side only).

Some breakpads that go on the outer side of the calliber have gluetape that will stick them to the calliber. So they will not rattel.

It may be that the only thing i ever appreciatet with this car was that it was riding quietly. I watched your awesome vid, took on the Mission an changed both brakes and now i have a really weird noise. It starts at around 40 km/h and just gets louder. Like a helicopter noise. Friend who help me said it will eventually go away but hasn't after 2000 km drive 😭

I bought mine used and the front breaks look a bit different, I wonder if they upgraded the calipers
@danielluttrell784710 ай бұрын
My 2017 A6 C7 fwd has different calipers. There is a metal shield over the tension clips and the carrier bolts are behind rubber plugs. They look bigger than this one and my car is a low-level USA version.

I noticed you pushed up on the passenger caliper mounting bolts. I pushed down to break the driver side bolts, is it up on the passenger side?
@jimrossabrena7955 Жыл бұрын
If you think about the orientation, the other side is mirrored so to loosen means up on the passenger side

hey i have a Question, i have an Audi A8 3.0 supercharge 2013, is is the same break pad as in the A6 Video ? and this is my first time changing the rotor, do you recommend i change the rotor after only changing my front twice and my rear once ? for all 4 ? and what sizes of breaks do i use ? also do we change the wire sensor of wire fluid in every break pad change ? thank you !

My A6 has adaptive cruise control. Any extra steps to be aware of (connections etc) since this feature actively engages the brakes?
@ModernEngineer3 жыл бұрын
Not that I’m aware of.

Thank you! Swapped out pads and rotors this weekend. You saved me $1,000! Just to confirm there isn't a separate/additional wire for adaptive cruise, etc. Same as your video. Thank you for posting this.

I know I'm late to this post but just have a question, does the brakes need bleeding after doing this job, and do you need to pump the brake pedal to push the piston back out to the rotor?
@jimrossabrena7955 Жыл бұрын
If you don't open the bleeders as you push the pistons back, you won't introduce air into the system. Unless you plan on flushing out the old fluid, you can just suck some fluid out of the Master Cylinder reservoir like he did in the video

Great video. I'm nearing the time where I'll need this done on my 2016 A6. I'll definitely do this myself and use your links. Are the rotors and pads u suggest the best available? And how much would this cost through a dealership?
@ModernEngineer3 жыл бұрын
The Audi dealership will charge over a $1000 for a full brake job. If you go to ECS tuning you can find more expensive / better quality parts, however unless you are tracking the car, I don’t think it’s worth the extra cost. Hope this helps
