My car is 2016 A6 3.0 with the same wheels shown in the video. My rotors are 356mm. You need a 9mm ALLEN socket for the slide pin bolts. I missed that in the video the first time, and my set didn't have this size. Also The torx is T-45. My original rotors warped with 26K miles, and I just installed Centric High Carbon Plain 125 rotors and Centric Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallic Pads, and everything is smooth now. Thank you so much sir for posting this excellent video. Everything spot on.

Great video and it matched up with my 356mm rotors (except for the T45 as mentioned in the comments) the one thing I found out is the that the sensor has a silver metal U shaped clip that keeps the sensor snug in the pad. If the clip is missing the sensor will not be tight and will cause the BRAKE light to come on. Sometimes it sticks to the old pad and sometimes the new sensors are missing it. BUT it is necessary.

Thanks, great video, after reinstalling my brakes, the pedal would go nearly to the floor. I bled the system twice, and it still had excessive travel. If I pump the brakes it starts to stiffen back up and act normal but then again 15 seconds of driving, excessive pedal travel againnearly to the floor. Any suggestions?

Outstanding instructions. I was wonder if all Audi rotors and brakes are generally like this ? we have 2016 q5 3.0T- so this helped tremendously. I’ve Done brakes on my Jaguar & Honda.. but Audi is next up. Best video instruction wise I’ve seen without any confusion or misguidance.
@kylet3589
@kylet3589 4 жыл бұрын
The 2016 q5 is different in front but same for rears across all b8 chassis and c7 i believe all use 330mm rear rotor amd similar if not same calipers B8.5 Q5 i believe has brembo option for 3.0T which is super easy to change pads - just pull pin and slide them out no need to remove caliper Some 2.0 Q5s have the B8/B8.5 A4 style caliper

No. The rears you need to have an OBDEleven and VAGCOM to use the Audi - Specific software to release the electronic parking brake while doing the rear brake pads. You have to find someone who has the computer or an Audi Dealer to do the rear pads. LMAO Nobody online seems to actually own a new Audi and had to repair the rear pads because that's EXACTLY what you have to do.

Thanks for the video it made it ease to disassemble and put it back together. Question. I compared the new pads with the one on the car and it looks like the one on the car still have some life. They are about 3/4 thick compared to the new once. In other words, there is about 1/4 wear and sensor start showing needs new pads. Sensor still in good condition, no wear, Plante of pads before touching the sensor. Any suggestions why sensor is telling to change pads when there is still a lot of material on the pads?

Recommend inspecting and maybe replacing the caliper pin boots at the same time. They are inexpensive. If they fail and and bind the caliper pin, it will quickly wear down the brake pads. In the 1LF brakes for sure, the lower boot has a plastic insert. Just found mine had turned to powder and wasted about 4mm of the outside front brake pad due to bound pin. Guess what? No wear sensor on the OUTSIDE pad, lucky me happen to inspect and find the thin pad.
