I had a bad rear right abs sensor fault, electrical fault causing not only a abs light on the dash but also an ESP light and headlight range control problem. This is what I found, and it's more common than you think!

You bought a new old stock car then. hahaha. Here they get parted with 200k km because of the aluminium and parts value. This one has STELLAR maintenance so Im not parting it. 600 000km here we come

@@Nordic_Mechanic Very nice, keep an eye on the Cam adjusters, they fail on every 40V engine from VAG group. And for the "World´s highest mileage"; I can only tell you that my previous and first D3 had 730.000km when I sold it about 4 years ago, and it still goes strong as the owner tells... Probably now has about 900.000. It´s pretty costly to maintain, we did the air struts at around 450.000, Air Compressor few times, Cam adjusters with both chains, climate compressor, preheater, both heater cores,... etc... Keep it running!

start by inspecting the wiring loom in the places I showed in the video. Thoser harnesses always break. It`s not a matter of if but when. ABS cant send valid message if it doesnt have valid data to work with. I fixed another last month with wiring issue there. Abs module would shut off entirely at exactly 20kmph lol.

How reliable are the engine and transmission of the 2004 Audi a8 with the 4.2?
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJqlXpyPi9d9paM Timing belts and fluid changes, you cant kill them unless you want to. The 4.2L 5V with timing belt and port injection (prior to direct) is one of the world best engine as far as reliability. The transmission also insanely good in audis. This car has 541 000km (335 000 miles) on OEM engine and trans, never opened, never failed.

Hey brother just got one of these for the low because the mmi system went out so owner didn’t want to fix it. Sold it to me for pennies.... anyway the trip tronic don’t work and stays in D with the whole PRNDS lit up red doesn’t tell you what your in but when I put it in park it’s park, reverse is reverse and N is neutral, drive is drive and it drives and shift but no sport mode or trip tronic soon could shift it. Again for all lit up in red on dash anything you can help with I would greatly appreciate it. Might even throw you a tip if it works lol

If you can post a video I may be able to see something . But if you want to keep the car, invest in rosstech vcds software. It's not expensive AND will allow people like me to diagnose your issue from high end scans. Pretty sure a scan would show something's up, or we could manually look at the various dataset. BUT considering you have an issue with the mmi AND the shifter controls......someone dropped coffee in the board around the shifter. Common issue since the cupholders are way too shallow in this car. DONT replace the mmi fuse if its blown. You need to inspect and clean the circuit board before you give it power again. I like these cars and thought the highest mileage one could give me a challenge, but NOPE! I made a video about the mmi problem in this particular car, you should look it up it's in the car's playlist on my channel

Veikra I did already will be doing that shortly step by step and sending the until to you or who you suggest
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
@@nicktunesnemesisperformanceINC the board around the shifter is one thing, the mmi system is another. It's behind the seat but it could simply not work for a different reason , namely a break in the optical loop between all the modules. Also, the way it acts could be due to the position sensor on the shifter being bad
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
@@nicktunesnemesisperformanceINC I can have a look at it but shipping is something to think about. If you replace the boarrd with the button, its fine. If you replace the mmi unit being the glovebox, you need audi or a memory pull and dump to get rid of component protection. You'll have to check for optical loop first

334k miles? With that km?
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
That`s 539 000km which is 334 000 miles. If you think that's not a lot of miles, well, please note those are all aluminium bodies so even the shell is worth a lot once you sold all the parts. So more incentive in scrapping them even when they run than a steel body.
