Doing an oil change on our '01 Audi A4 (B5) 1.8T Avant Quattro, though this will be the same basic procedure for any B5 chassis with the 1.8T engine.
Oil capacity is 4.3L with filter, always use full synthetic. I am using 5W30 because we live in GA where it doesn't get that cold. Factory fill is 0W30 but that's for German weather, so if you live in colder climate use the lower weight, but if you are like me and live in warm area I recommend using the 5W30.
The only tricky bit for this is getting to the oil filter which is huge and in an awkward location on the driver side of the engine. The best way to get access to filter is to remove the intake tube which is very simple (just need a flathead screwdriver) to get off and back on again, this will give you the needed space to remove filter (though you can also drop it down through bottom) and to get the new filter on there. I find getting to filter is easier from up top but it is on the trickier side of oil change procedures.

Happy wrenching!
