Audi B8 A4 CTS Turbo Hi-Flow Cat & Downpipe - Before and After

This is my 2012 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro 6MT. This is a before and after video of the CTS Turbo hi-flow catalytic converter and 3" non-resonated downpipe. The rest of the car is totally stock.
The weird noise after each rev in the 'before' part is the turbo wastegate rattling. It's a common problem on these cars, and unfortunately usually means the turbo needs to be replaced. I got a new turbo installed with the cat and downpipe, so that's no longer a problem.

Yes, it’s from the linkage coming lose because they decided to make it non serviceable. You can get a turbo watergate clip to delay it from happening.

Is there any drone with this setup? When not driving spiritedly is it noticeably loud?

I have the same setup, no drone at highway speeds. You can hear a difference from stock when you are ripping on it, but nothing too crazy. Most of the sound comes from the 2 resonators which I and he still have on our cars. (For him at least in this video)

Only fix for it is replacing entire turbo assembly- you're looking at $2-3k

yea you will get a CEL because of the o2 sensors bugging out about how much more air is coming through the high-flow cat. I got a tune and that fixed it!

Shaggygto It is not. This is just the high-flow catalytic converter and the 3" downpipe from CTS Turbo. It's totally stock after that

Jessy Toulouse Yes, changing the catalytic converter causes a check engine light. The car is APR stage 2 now, which gets rid of the check engine light

Brandon Hall The best solution is to replace the entire turbo, unfortunately. Check out the Audi World and Audizine forums, it's a pretty common problem and people have figured out some pretty interesting fixes for it

you can check out ecs tuning and get a $480 package deal with high flow cat converter with downpipe I just installed it into my b8.5

Nope, sorry. It's just the stock diffuser that comes on cars with the S-Line package

I had that issue as well and I ended having to replace my turbo eventually

I was able to cut the wastegate actuator rod, thread it / bridge it so that it was adjustable and closed the wastegate.

Wastegate flap issue, I had mine rebuilt but sound came back after 20k KM, going to K04 soon
