I've been driving a fat e-tron for 3 years now. Bough it second-hand with 7.000 km in the odometer. Whoever ordered the car in the first place did not raise the pencil from the paper when going through the accessories on the order form. Still, with all the cool new Koreans and all, I can't see any other car I would prefer driving. Yeah, the consumption is high, but who cares - I put on the massage and ventilation on the comfort seats, enjoy the silence and smooth ride that the air suspension offers. When the evening comes, I turn on the heat camera to see mooses, pedestrians etc. from the road. And in the winter time, I have no issues with adaptive cruise control when it's snowing, as the radar has heating. All the other driver assistance stuff works nicely as well. The one grimace I have and that's the MMI software... it's really outdated. Luckily the car has wireless Carplay and that saves the day. Anyone looking for a second-hand EV should not overlook the classic fatron. It has a lot of bang for the buck.

@sebad835 ай бұрын
According to Audi car configurator, changing wheels from 20’ to 22’ reduced the range by 7%. This is significant. It would be good to test the Q8 with 20’ wheels and compare it with Q6 on 20’ wheels. 7% is a lot (and also Audi claims for the Q8 to be more efficient than the etron).

Nice video ..Rough Calculations based on the Q8 having a ca 24 percent bigger battery would land you at ca 400km at 120km/h not taking into account the small changes they did regarding the efficiency between the Etron and the Q8 … In your tests Q6 has 20” inch vs 22 on the etron so on a Q8 you are looking a very similar figures between the Q6 vs Q8 … Of course there are lots of other improvements not the Q6 but the range seems similar to a Q8

My 2023 e-tron got a best range of 422km last year, 411km so far this year. Regularly 4.2 to 4.5 km/kWh with mixed driving and no attempt to be efficient. Have seen as high as 7km/kWh but that’s rare. 96% home charging, saved C$3,200 last year. Fantastic car and who cares if it’s slightly less efficient - it just means slightly more often charging. Want to join me for a REALLY long drive Bjorn? Trans Canada is at the bottom of the street…

Thank you for that re-test. As the owner of a "fat e-tron" I was quite interested in how it did. But one thing that surprised me was the side-by-side shot of the Q6 and the older e-tron -- the older "fat e-tron" actually looks smaller, especially it looks less tall. Can that be correct? Surely the Q6 is smaller than the e-tron 55. I wonder if the suspensions were set differently when you took that shot, so that the Q6 just looked taller...? Very curious!

You can get one with less than 20.000km for about 1/3 of the original price at least here in Germany.

I think this is a big reason why legacy EV adoption is stalled. And you still have to deal with big dealer markups. Meanwhile, Teslas with 200,000+ km still look good, going strong.

Here in Switzerland one can also get great offers for the e-tron 55. I bought one last summer and it had 15‘000km, was 18 month old and below 50% of list price. But one has to understand that nobody pays the list price. Generally I think the e-tron 55 is a very good deal.

Here is a suggestion for a test: Find a long slope one day with no wind and let the Audi free roll down. Then let a Tesla Y do the same. See which one that rolls the longest distance until it stops. This will show the in-built efficiency regarding the aspects of weight/aerodynamics.
@evkx5 ай бұрын
The problem is that Model Y does not support coasting without featering the throttle.
@FromPetroltoTesla5 ай бұрын
Well if I hold up the gear selector on my Y a few seconds when drivind in D, the car goes into N and is free rolling. Test drove a Mini Cooper S and putting into N to roll was just as easily done. Should be possible with just about any EV, hopefully.

Wow really? That is indeed high for a comparatively small EV like the MG4. 😮 I have in summer at 130kmh 160-180Wh/km (120kmh can be done easily at 145-160 Wh/km in dummer, 180-200 in really cold winter) depending on street and weather in my 2021 M3LR AWD. And over 67000km in 2.5 yrs I averaged 159 Wh/km with 60% highway and many extreme long distances of 1000+km

@@mastarce not a hope. I did multiple tests in couple of them to make sure that mine isn't faulty. Bjorn's range test confirms that. You may have it when you set cruise control to 120 but your average speed will be 100 because of traffic. If you set it 120 and keep going 120 you won't go below 20, which is usually my case as I'm coming back home very late evenings and roads are empty. Not to mention when temperature drops below 10° and you are pushing it. When driving 120-140, I had a consumption of even 27, not once! I had a good few EVs and this one is just ridiculous when it comes to efficiency 🤷🏻♂️
