We install lowering links on the 2021 Audi RS6. Lowering links are one of the easiest ways to lower your VAG car that uses air bags. This is the same process we used to lower the Porsche Taycan 4s. Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche use the same closed loop system to measure ride height using ride height sensors to tell what position the car is in. This allows Porsche, Volkswagen, or Audi cars to measure what ride height the car is currently resting at to raise or lower the car. Lowering links simply trick the system into thinking the car is higher than it is by increasing or decreasing the link between the control arm and the body, hence a lowering link was born!

Bro, the RS6 is a big step-up on the RS3 (which is awesome in its own right). You must be doing something right! Keep going 🙂

@@HardwayLearning Just got done doing ours today with the recommended amount to see them on per cts website. Seems its only 10mm lower than stock links. Looks good, whats interests is when its in the highest settings it seems to be the same as stock lowered height Meaning one could drive at raised height and not need alignment.

Snapped the ball right off of one of my sensors when doing this. Such a bummer. I was able to bolt the ball back on to avoid any problems, thank goodness.

They did not, this doesn't change your spring/damping rates, only brings the cars down lower.

We followed the lengths listed on CTS Turbo's website and I think it brought the car down around 20-25mm? We never measured a before and after unfortunately.

Ever get any suspension alerts from the car? I have an SQ5 with links installed and just started throwing errors after months of use.
@HardwayLearning

Honestly, we put all this stuff on and the car has been parked for the winter. We have done it on a Taycan and RS7 with no issue. I would suspect you may have another issue, connector or sensor gone bad. The car shouldn't really care what length these arms are, it's going to bring it into range relative to where that 0 point is. All the arm is doing is tricking the system into thinking the car is higher than it really is, therefore lowering it to the new height.

@@HardwayLearning Good point. I have to crawl under there to see what is going on. I have heard of sensors going bad in extreme weather conditions. We recently had a cold snap with sub zero temps which could be a factor.

@@razz1976 did you get any other errors, I know the ECU can also get fussy when the battery is really low/nearing it's end of life which could also happen with extremely cold temperatures

@@HardwayLearning None. Just the suspension alert. I ordered an OBDeleven to clear the codes. Arrives next week. After confirming everything looks fine, I will clear the error code and see how long that lasts. Worst case scenario I put the stock links back in and bring to Audi for them to review the sensors.

@@HardwayLearning Update: Got my OBDeleven today and cleared the errors. Checked the links and the rears were WAY too long resulting in the error/fault. They must not have been fully tightened and backed out over time. Which makes sense because the ride got really rough recently. Adjusted to 8mm longer than stock and adjusted the front to 8mm shorter than stock. Sitting level, rides smooth and no errors.
