@@KaboKebareng74413284 you need to connect the can plug behind the glove box, remove the glove box and find a red plug on the left side rear ,that controls the center control

Does the original RealCam need to be connected separately because it is CAN communication or does it automatically recognize when I put in reverse gear?

Yes .you need to remove the glove box and connect the can on the left side of the dashboard on the middle
