Audi Q7 Torture Test - The INKA Test

Audi Quality Assurance has conducted its 100th ‘INKA’ test. The Ingolstadt Corrosion and Aging test is one of the toughest assessments a car has to go through at Audi. Performed at the Audi global headquarters, it simulates the challenges of 12 years of a car’s lifetime in a span of just 19 weeks. Quality Assurance uses this method to verify an Audi's effective corrosion protection and durability.
In the course of performing 100 ‘INKA’ tests, Audi Quality Assurance has completed a total of 322,500 testing hours, covered more than one million kilometres (621,371 miles) and driven through 2,800 mud tests and 1,900 salt tests.
The endurance test covers five phases. First the car is misted with salt in a climatic chamber at 35 degrees Celsius. Next it is exposed to a tropical climate of up to 50 degrees Celsius and maximum air humidity of 100 percent. In phase three, 80 halogen metal vapor lamps, each with an output of 1,200 watts, heat the body to a maximum of 90 degrees Celsius. In the process, the colours in the interior must not fade and the materials must not become brittle.
The fourth phase simulates winter-like conditions at the polar circle. At minus 35 degrees Celsius, a four-post hydropulse machine rocks the car to simulate the body torsion and strain on parts of the vehicle and engine mounts that cars endure on rough roads. In parallel - phase five - test drivers repeatedly drive through specially prepared routes on the open testing grounds.
A total of 12,000 kilometres (7,456.5 miles) are travelled with each model, including driving through saltwater and mud. At the end of the test, the quality inspectors dissect the entire car into around 600 individual parts and check these for weak points.
Audi Quality Assurance conducted the first INKA tests in 2002. Technical Development has been assessing pre-series cars using the same test method for 40 years now.

I really do not understand the hate for a particular brand of a car. In this case, VW\Audi products. I had a Mk6 golf Tdi for several years and it has never gave me an ounce of problem. None. My grandparents both had audis there whole life and likewise, no problems. Besides the emissions scandal. Can someone enlighten me with some actual evidence? I've looked online and it's just all bandwagon complaints.

Pls. need help - any opinion. I want to buy a SUV - need big cargo space, 7seats would be great. I usually travel highway (80%), but almost every week I have to drive off road. I can afford up to 15 thousand euros. I prefer Audi Q7 (2007/2008). Question is - should I buy something newer (2012/2013)? Maybe less premium. Diesel with euro 5 emissions.

I have a 2006 Q7 3.0Tdi only thing that has been done to it is a performance chip upgrade, now has 320hp / 650 Nm, its about to hit 200,000km it has not missed a beat, and that is Australian roads not the nice smooth roads of Europe,

I have a 2008 Q7 4.2 TDi purchased over 3 years ago, after owning: Datsun/Nissan Pulsar 1981, Ford XD ute 1981, also XH ute, Ford Laser KH hatch, Ford Fairmont EF2 (nice ride but unreliable), Kia Sorento (actually this was reliable only had it short time though - so this is not included) V6 petrol 2006, Hyundai Terrican Highlander 2.9 CRDi Diesel Auto (was very nice, but rear axle flogged to pieces), Toyota Prado 3L diesel multiple expensive problems 2008 Grande. The Audi has been THE most reliable so far...its air suspension, unlike the Prado is working and I use it A LOT. Over 130,000 klms traveled since purchased. I do maintain all vehicles by the book, usually through Dealer assoc. with Manufacturer only using genuine parts. The AUDI is the best I have owned by far in other areas as well...I tow a 2.4 tonne Caravan, it sits on 100km/hr with cruise control on and for a diesel V8 twin turbo returns 15.5 L/100 klm/hr. Key/ring scratches are easy to remove with Maguires Scratch X. It still looks like a new car and yes it traverses river crossing, when on highest setting with ease. I live in a hot and cold (SNOW) Country town in Australia... the climate control is fantastic. I have seen -3.5 degrees Celsius on the cars external temperature display. Mate...you DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!! :))

If the cheap headlights of the audi is whats important for you, good, that just shows how much of a clueless tool you are. My once owned 2010 Q7 has had moisture problems in it's low quality headlights since it left the showroom. Low beam bulb on the right unit has been burning off basically every other week. It's adaptive lighting malfunctioned once, rendering the car undrivable since the headlights always pointed down at the ground, not doing their start-up check - which costed ~$2k for a new module. And so on and so forth. Meanwhile my almost 1 million km old Land Cruiser 120 Prado has changed a couple of bulbs throughout it's lifetime, and they even light up the road far better with its HALOGEN H4 HEADLIGHTS! One whole year was the MOST I could put up owning this AUDI, and good riddance. Hope you are it's new owner so you can "enjoy" this wonderful experience of your car failing every other day. ..... talking about headlights, lol what a joke... Not gonna talk about capability, reliability, comfort, offroad performance (it's an offroad vehicle, or what it pretends to be), resale value, but we are gonna talk about the headlight tech - haha; I know your types, you are just the perfect AUDI buyer ;) p.s. Don't leave the mall-paved road with your Q7 while we are at it, or you might get stranded due to getting stuck in the grass. (actual real life experience). Good luck!
