Hey man, loving your videos! They’ve been a great guide on my hunt to buying my own used R8! Slightly off topic, but how many km is too much for a used 2008-2010 R8? I’ve been trying to look for one under 60,000km but have noticed that almost all the listings in Ontario under $80k have over 80,000km. Would it be a bad idea to buy one with that much mileage? Sometimes it can be necessary to replace the flywheel as well when replacing the clutch on these cars. I would do that anyway to avoid problems later on. Great car and nice video.

Nice update. Didn’t know about the values clean needed. I think my Lambo Gallardo need this. My Lambo is 54k miles but coolant leak. I have not got it fix yet. That’s the only thing went wrong so far. Which is good till the coolant. Although the engine is Lambo engine minus 2 cylinder but they perfect it after Gallardo.

My dude, thanks for making this video :-) So cool to see. I may be blasphemous in saying this, but I can't drive stick so I'll be going for a paddle shift model when I do make the jump. Just debating between the R-Tronic/S-Tronic (which I know... internet goes crazy preaching "get the s-tronic"), and will likely come down to me test driving them both. Really depends on 'finding a good deal' on the car I want, which I know I can find (got my 2018 BRZ for $9000 under sticker price of a new one, absolutely nothing wrong with it at all, just 8000 km on it, and I know I can flip it for what I paid after slapping 15-20,000 km on it).

Best way to learn manual worry free, is get any cheap rental from HERTZ, BUDGET, AVIS etc. Get their best insurance plan, and use it to practice at your leisure. If it breaks, no worries, the insurance covers you. Good luck man.

I think the design of the original R8's from 2006 to 2014 have held up a lot better than how the newer gen R8's are going to hold up moving forward. I say that because they made the original R8 to be futuristic and the new R8's to be modern.

Do you think its a good idea to buy a 2007 model year R8? i have been eyeing on a couple of suspiciously cheap 2007 Audi R8s... as the prices were too good to be true, it worries me that the car might have major problems or reliability issues. since because 2007 models are the 1st generation.

Honestly they’ve been quite reliable you’re gonna have to fully investigate the car see if there’s any history of damage see if the maintenance is up-to-date etc. Check out all my other videos on the car it should help you out significantly :-)

Every German car I've had, has had some type of air conditioning issues. From a base 3 series bmw up to an E-class AMG. Otherwise, they were all pretty solid. The AMG was hands down the best reliability wise, sold it at 266k miles and it ran perfectly.

I think this car is much better looking than the 2020 model. The 2020 model looks like just another Audi. It's like when Audi first released the TT, it looked nothing like anything else. Now almost all of the Audi cars , just look the same.

Hey can't afford an R8, but dream of one, but did just get my dream daily, 2018 RS3, just wondering if there is a place you would recommend for interior detailing? I've done a FULL PPF and ceramic coat of the exterior and ceramic pro to the interior but I had that done in Guelph which is a bit far to take it for interior detailing. I recognize basically where you are from your videos, I'm only about 10-15 min away from you, thanks

Which ppf film did you go with by the way?

Your car gets serviced up around Newmarket from what I gather yes? Sorry, one last question, as I'm a bit OCD as well....soap, cleaning products, foam cannon, etc you'd recommend. Well since you're fully ppf and ceramic coated you are pretty protected. Honestly I would just do a rinse and underbody rents of the car either at a coin operated car wash or at one of those touchless car washes every once in awhile. If you really wanted to you could spray the bottom with oil but I'm not sure if the newer cars already have sufficient coating underneath. Not much you can do other than what you've already done to protect it in the winter. If you haven't already maybe look at some nice floor mats?

I would say you can look at getting these examples between 70 to 90 k, depending on transmission, condition and a whole bunch of other things

V8 or v10? Depreciation on the first gen manuals will be very low but will still happen.

Honestly I’ve been in the R8 scene forever. The 6MT is extremely reliable. I have almost never heard of issues with the transmission.

Hi, I've owned an '08 R8 for about 10 years (Suzuka Gray with carbon blades) and replaced the electromag shocks with a set of coilovers from Scale, which is based in Quebec City. For street riding and daily driving purposes I honestly have not been able to see a perceptible difference in ride quality or performance with the BC racing coilovers compared to the magnetic ride suspension. Now I have not been tracking the car but I am planning on taking it to the track this year multiple times so I can give a greater evaluation of its performance shortly. if you haven't already subscribed make sure you do and I will have those update videos posted as soon as I can. How many kilometers do you have on this now?

​@@carswithsondurenI bought the car, still on warranty, from a Spyker dealership in Houston, and had it trucked back to Maine, and then drove it home to New Brunswick. Like yours, it needed tires and the shocks were leaking. When I bought it, it had 16,XXX miles (about 25,500 kms) and now shows 32,XXX miles (about 52,000 kms). No major issues: An AC fix required a switch ($110 or so); a coolant recovery tank ($500 new but I found a used on on ebay for $75); the engine can tick for a couple of seconds on a cold start; and every now then the starter motor stays engaged (just shut it off and start it again). Also, periodically, the oil-temp gauge and fuel level will drop to zero. The dealer is not sure what's up as the issue is intermittent. Otherwise, still a fun car.

Over here in the UK insurance is astronomical for young people, I was looking at golf Rs, GTIs etc when I was 19. Grabbed a GTE as it would get me to work and back on electric charge. I’m 20 now and I’ve found out that my insurance would have been 970 on an R8, which is half the cost of the golf R, only 270 more than my GTE... so I wish I’d checked that at the time lmaoo! But yeah, in a few years. When I’m done with the GTE I’ll grab the R8 and I’m very exited for it. Going to go and test drive one when lockdown is lifted over here. Anything I should really look out for?

Clutch is not really a mainstream item. They are supposed to last at least 100k miles, and I've seen clutches with 200k miles

I love this car too. It's such a shame they butchered looks in the new models and killed of the gated manual. It's a tragedy. But you know you can supercharge the R8 and it will make more than 600bhp? From vfengineering.

Completely agree with you I was looking at the supercharger route but I really wanted to keep this car stock OEM so I decided against it but I do have a stage 2 tune and exhaust if you've been following my more recent videos and it definitely has livened up the car
