This car looks so damn good for a 2008, it aged much better then the gallardo imo I think this is the best body style for the r8 the newer ones don’t look as good. This literally looks like a concept car that can be driven

Time flies when you're having fun. Crazy to believe it's been 3 years. I definitely baby did for the first 2 years but this year I took it to the track and drag strip and we'll be doing more of that next year too 😎 pretty magical to take this thing on the track.

Awesome video, I love the R8 V8, my favorite car. It's funny I was looking up stuff about this as far as affordability, even when buying it all the maintenance and stuff comes at a price, not to mention previous owners. I definitely considered between 1st gen V8 and V10. If I get the V8 I would be learning manual on that which may not be ideal. Or do an R tronic for either the V8 or V10. I've just heard mixed stuff about the R-Tronic and such and others may suggest S-Tronic would be better of you go the Auto route. Have you any experience with an R-tronic R8?

I have driven the R-tronic R8, it's definitely fun it's not fast, its a bit jerky which makes you feel like you're shifting gears in the manual. Personally for me I wouldn't learn on this car in case you do too much damage the clutch, try to learn on another car and pick this car up in manual. I think if you're buying it for weekend riding and pleasure the manual is a must. Every time if you can afford it and it's in your price range. Otherwise the V8 will do, he will just be missing out on that extreme power, but the V8 still sings

Hey CR, did you noticed a big difference in the way your r8 drives after performing a carbon cleaning? My 2009 r8 which I got 2 years ago probably never have one and wonder if the drive would be “smoother” of better in any other ways. Great vid.

Hey Walter I did notice a difference after performing the carbon cleaning, but I wouldn't say it was a major difference. I didn't have that much carbon buildup as some of the worst examples either. Though if you don't even know if it's ever been cleaned, I would definitely do it because it could be really bad and it's good for not only the longevity of the engine but to also eke out more horsepower torque and response out of the engine.

I have been following your progress with this car since you bought it and now I have my house deposit saved & had permission from my parents to stay at home for another few years I do honestly want this car to be my next achievement. I have been putting off getting a girlfriend purely for the reason I am saving for this car.... car guys priorities right! I am 22 so girls don’t matter too much right now. Not over an R8 anyway. You are very lucky to have the spec you do, in the UK trying to find a 2012/15 face lifted V8 model in manual is impossible! But hey your videos keep me inspired and pushing for that dream, it’s not the fastest, not the newest but it’s a beautiful car and worth almost every penny.... cent. Really great man, really great.

Definitely more of a wow factor and fun factor but the e92 M3 is wonderful. Go with what your heart wants life is short.

Have you ever had dust accumulate inside the headlight housing itself? Or are yours still pristine with zero dust in them?

Don't think I noticed any dust at all but I will double check the next time I go wash it. Dust has accumulated in yours?

@@carswithsonduren Yes sadly - if you look into them when they’re on, you see dust particles all inside that fray up the clarity of the beams / running lights. I’m going to have to get it opened up and cleaned out, I think :( Bothers me and is definitely noticeable to most average people when they come up close too…

Hey CR, I was contemplating a 2008 R8, v8 manual, single owner, no accidents, low kms 25,xxx kilometres (Vancouver) the owner is my friends dad who is retiring. He is asking 90k which seems high. I know the prices bottomed out 2 years ago didn’t think it skyrocketed. Is 90k overpriced? What’s a good price on it?

Honestly that sounds reasonable based on the prices I am seeing. If it's in mint condition, which it sounds like it is, take it. 25,000km is LOW

I live in Québec and I checked with my insurer for a 2008-2009 R8 V8 and it would cost me around 850$/year with a 1000$ deductible for insurance.

I had a 08 gt500 and some jeeps that I had that I sold and I had a ton of money and then I bought a house. But I want one soo bad! I’m saving my money again right now. I’m looking to get an r8 2009 but with a 100k mileage, what should I look out for before making the purchase?

Check for all the typical maintenance. Check for all the common things like accidents, etc. check the front frame for cracking. I have videos and all of this on my Audi R8 playlist. Yes if they are not properly used. You need to have the AC running all the time to ensure the Freon is lubricating the internal components.

I got an M4 right now. Debating now between an R8 or a 992 Carrera S. Both look amazing but the R8 slightly wins in looks I think.

Tough decision both are amazing cars and coming from an M4 in itself is a wonderful car. Why are you even looking to move out of the M4? Would you look at a V8 or V10 R8? Do you care which generation?

@@carswithsonduren I honestly don't want to sell the M4. I love the car. I special ordered it so I built it exactly how I wanted it. But those two cars have really consumed my mind lately. Lol What draws me to the Carrera, is that the second Gen R8 doesn't have that manual. And the first Gen models have really been going up in price.

My question is what does your heart tell you? You always need to follow your heart on this one. I personally think the generation one is better looking on the exterior but the interior of the new R8s are much nicer. I'm a big Porsche fan, but I am a biased soul and love what Audi has done with the R8s. My friend just recently picked up a Porsche Cayman GT4, absolutely stunning.

@@carswithsonduren it's funny, that's exactly how I feel about the R8. The interior on the new one definitely and obviously looks more modern, but I can't have a sports car without a manual. I saw your video of the GT4. Looks nuts. I'll definitely have to drive both cars before I pull the trigger, which will hopefully make it easier to come to a decision.

Hey does your chassis make noise after installing the bc racing coil overs? They told me it’s normal for it to happen.

Where is the noise that you hear? You shouldn’t be hearing any noise related to the suspension

@@carswithsonduren Sounds like it’s coming from the chassis. BC said if the suspension is too stiff that could happen. I had them installed and I think they didn’t get the stiffness right. I will have to get in there to see what it is set to.

Up to 10.000 depending on market and mechanic but the clutch is reliable on these as long as you don't abuse it.
