Cezar Banaszczyk Just saw this, but I was aware ;-) They swap a lot of parts between the different brands, though who created the V10 I do not know. Lambo's undeniably have a V12 history, so it makes sense if the parts came off the VW shelves.

You should hear these things in person. I was privileged to be a guest of AUDI at the Bathurst 12 Hour last year and spoke to Markus Winkelhock a few times. Nice guy, very laid back. The change downs from 300kmph + with the pneumatic clutch is breathtaking to hear. The LMS’s were racing against Mercs, Ferraris, Porsche etc and the sound just obliterated all of them.

Normally I hate Audis... But I must admit the R8 LMS is extraordinary ! That V10 is epic... I've been to the Spa 24 Hours race last year and honestly, I enjoy that sound a lot with Aston's V12, BMW's Brutal V8, Mercedes' Monster V8, Ferrari's Mighty V8 etc... Yea, GT3 cars are simply amazing !

Friend and I have RWS cars. Would not swap the RWD for anything and would love to have a turn behind the wheel of a LMS car. His car sounds awesome like this GT3 with his aftermarket exhaust. Mine is stock. If they ever build a decent track near Calgary I will buy a GT4 car.

In Japanese GT300, an all-wheel-drive Subaru won a race. JGTC is recognized by the FIA, so that's not necessarily true. For Le-mans AWD might be banned. I still don't know.

James Lerner Toyota, Audi and Porsche use AWD for their LMP1 racers. Mainly the back wheels are driven by the internal combustion engine, but the front wheels are driven by the electric motors.

Antonius Tyaswidyono I am just curious whether these racecars would behave like a road-car under circumstances such as going sideways or hanging the tail out. My guess is, since GT3 cars are very aero-grip-based, they would immediately spin off if the rear wheels run loose.

Yes, like sahn said these are race cars and there's absolutely no need to fast out of a corner (powersliding), but if you do it will most likely guarantee (like you said) oversteering making the car go out of control.

Mate, the GT3 has a smaller displacement than the R8 (its a fucking 3.8 L flat six! Not hard to do!) and if you call a facelift getting an extra 52hp and a carbon fiber tub. And how does having a higher RPM mean anything? Thats just what happens when you use a NA engine. Educate yourself!

Based on what? Which track? What tyres? Who was driving? Get real man. Lap times involve too many variables to be trustable. The fact is. Everybody, including myself dislike the understeering the Quattro produces. The front of the cars start washing out mid corner when you apply throttle.

This site just proves my point. The Audi chassis is rubbish. And can only deliver on straight line acceleration. But mid corner and on exists it struggles to rotate the rear end. The RS6 has almost 80 hp, and 130 NM of torque MORE than the M5, and yet it can only go 0.8 seconds faster around a racing track. Thank you for proving my point!

"GT3"?? Auti is using the model name. Aston Martin. What is up with manufacturers these days? Porsche "owns" the right to use "GT3" for 2 of their supercars. Even if "GT3" is a class of GT racing. Not very original. And if I'm not mistaken Mercedes is using "GT3" as well for one of their new cars. It would be like any other manufacturer using the "S" designation or "911". Or "R8". When I hear "GT3" I only think of one brand. Porsche and their 2 GT3 cars. "R8" Audi. AMG...Benz.
