@MrOldMiguel7 жыл бұрын
If you compare the two videos you can see the Porsche is way faster on the straights and way slower in the corners, leading to a similar lap time because the Nordschleife has plenty of both track situations. GT3 cars still have a bit faster lap time I think. They are also limited by race class regulations. On a track with more straights, the Porsche would beat them, on a track with greater focus on corners, the GT3s would win. Still, mega impressive for the road legal Porsche. I think its destined to become a proper GT3 race car, with some big ass aero on it and proper weight reduction as well as race brakes.

It's pretty hard to be the second car and not tunnel vision on the car in front of you, even if there's a car in front of you, your mind needs to be on the track, not on the car ahead. Props to the AMG
@aasastephenson15385 жыл бұрын
Yea on some corners he peeks out just a bit the see braking points and turn in ..that helps to stey close and avoids tunnel vision like you said..

Hahaha I love how the Mercedes Driver presses the light signal button so many times in first half part of the track. You can see the flashy yellow reflection on the bumper of the R8 :D It's like the driver is screaming: "God damned, just let me overtake you!" xD
@Rman31968 жыл бұрын
Scuderia Pertev You do realise GT3 cars have yellow headlights? Won't be indicators. Look at pics of like the 458 GT3, R8 LMS, Porsche 991 RSR and this AMG GT3. It's to stop headlight glare from the drivers behind you. Since yellow light isn't as blinding as white light, but is still highly visible. Especially for events like the 24hr Le Mans where long unlit night driving is involved.
@Pertev7778 жыл бұрын
Häää...? Why do you trying to teach me something which I already know? I am already aware of this. That is also the reason why street lights uses Sodium-vapor lamp.
@gozinta827 жыл бұрын
I saw that too earlier and thought the same. Not sure if he actually flashed or not in the beginning, but I think it could've looked like he was because the cars were bouncing so the reflection looked like that.
@Pertev7777 жыл бұрын
This isn't caused by bouncing of the car.
@TEMPLE7D7 жыл бұрын
You can see his right thumb on the "flash" button half way around the damn track lol. Drivers do this to try to increase intimidation amongst the first driver in the pack.

AMG better in the corners and braking. Audi better top end speed and better mid to high end acceleration it seems. Is best chance of Merc overtaking (bar a mistake from the Audi) to dive bomb into a corner or pit stop undercut?
@mangamaster45 жыл бұрын
The Audi can hold the line a lot easier because it's such a balanced car so it's a lot harder to make mistakes in it. Because Nordschleife is such a tight track it only adds to the close racing aswell even though most overtaking is done on the end straight. I reckon if the R8 hadn't got the slipstream from the car at the start of the end straight the AMG might have beaten the R8 for acceleration
@neilreid90055 жыл бұрын
No dive bombing when the two cars are so close in the braking zones. Besides, the Audi guy was savvy enough to not leave the door open on entry.
@mangamaster45 жыл бұрын
@@neilreid9005 His lines were very good through the 3rd sector but that AMG was absolutely all over the Audi in the second sector. First sector was fairly even.

Not many places to pass safely, I think both drivers were playing it safe rather than ending up in the trees together
@bryan13775 жыл бұрын
Don't think so, the Audi is smoother in the corners than Merc, since the Audi is way lighter than the Merc, it's easy for it to maneuver corners than the sturdier merc
