We’re back with another petrol v electric car drag race! This time it’s Yianni in the Audi RS e-tron GT going up against the Mat in the Mercedes-AMG E63 S.
In previous races against Audi RS cars, the E63 S has thoroughly demolished the competition! That’s thanks to its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which can produce 612hp and 850Nm of torque.
The RS e-tron GT, meanwhile, can deliver a huge 646hp in launch mode from its two electric motors! It’s slightly down on torque compared to the E63 S, though, producing 830Nm - and it’s also heavier than the AMG too, weighing in at 2,347kg compared to the E63 S’s 2,010kg!
So… will it be a walkover again for the E63 S? Or will the RS e-tron GT recoup some honour for RS cars everywhere by defeating the E63 S over the standing quarter-mile? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

The e63s performed very well considering it was put against the most powerful Audi and since the Audi was electric. You should put the gt63s 4door against the rs etron.

Pretty amazing how evenly match they are despite one being a combustion engine and the other one being a dual electric motors which is coincidentally the fastest RS car. I didn't think it would be so close. I'd take the e63s and use the extra 30k for tuning, fuel and a road trip around Europe. .

It is NOT the fastest RS car The fastest RS car is the r8 V10 performance which does the 1/4 mile in 10.7 (Funny enough the 2018/2017 models were even faster completing the 1/4 mile in an astounding 10.4 doing 0-60 in 2.6 seconds!)

One of the very best contests I have seen from CarWow. Have looked at the freeze-frame and suspect the Audi just pipped it as it was ahead on the frame before being blocked out by the Merc being in front of the camera. Nice work guys!

It seems the audi actually maintains the Power output that it claims! Many Electric motors don't hold field weakening for very long (in road cars) and drop in power with increased speed but the audi just keeps pulling. Much appreciated from an engineer
