The end OEM (Porsche, Audi, Bentley, etc) has A LOT of leeway with the chassis, engine, transmission, suspension, exhaust, etc. That is why the horsepower and performance numbers vary so greatly between models with the same base platform. I am referring to the real vehicles, not these electric pieces of shit. I don't care about any of them.

@@PrydeWater901 Waited a year to reply to your obnoxious comment; Recalls were software and charging unit upgrades, that’s all there was…. $65k VAG -eTron was battery and battery modules multiple times, ingress of moisture to cell storage… $120k BMW AG driver may unintentionally reactivate the cruise control system while turning the steering wheel at low speeds, resulting in a sudden increase of vehicle speed, ADAS and airbag system failures, drivetrain issues, hybrid failure, battery thermal management failure, multiple software issues and module replacement, driver’s instrument cluster failures… $125k Tesla has recalled all car models, multiple issues on software and power management, braking faults and cruise control etc etc etc… $100-165k.. So, what was the outcome then…? Looks like the Kia/Hyundai was and is still the better car…

@@Incountry Obnoxious? No. Experienced. I bought a Hyundai new for it to get towed out of my garage twice before they recalled it for a faulty brake switch that wouldn’t allow the car to start. I traded out of it before the Theta engines were found to be self destructive prompting another mass recall. Did you also miss that I said the EV6 was very nice? By the way, you admitted that recalls happened. You waited a year to prove me right. It also does no good to bring the other automakers into this conversation because I’m not loyal to any of them. I do, however, miss the Tacoma X-Runner I once had.

The Model X has the by far the most hp per metric tonne and came last, (engine torque per tonne is still the model X but that isn’t relevant to a drag race) I doubt it is down to the SUV’s being as sleek as a brick at those speeds. Either the Model X figures are made up or the software is hampering it.

In one of carwows other videos the model x performance ran 11.9 in the rain. So either the guy in the Model X didn’t know how to use launch control or it was at like 20% SoC. The Model X Performance typically runs low 11s and has been as fast as high 10s in perfect conditions. 12.5 on dry pavement means the guy was just lifting off the brake and then pressing the accelerator.

It was trailered to the event so started the race with nearly 100% SOC but took nearly 30 minutes to pre condition the battery for Ludicrous + for the first race. It just wouldn't engage properly at any time.

@@graemecollie9233 Now that you say that my P100D is sometimes a little finicky when in ludicrous +. But due to the long wait times I really only ever put it in + when I’m taking someone for a ride for the first time or when I’m at the track. It will still do a launch control launch when in regular ludicrous mode. Just stand down on the break (mine won’t engage unless I’ve got the brake basically pressed to the floor) and then the stand down on the accelerator. A second or two later a message will pop up on the cluster saying launch mode enabled, release the brake and off you go. Next time I’m at the track I’m going to see what the difference between ludicrous and ludicrous + really is.

And most of those would barely win a 0-60 race between the EVs. These EV cars are within tenths of a second close to modern day “super cars”. I’d say they’re pretty damn fast. Also consider MOST everyday ICE cars still reach the 1/4 mile in well over 13 seconds.

I think, the EV6 might even be quicker. They have used the GT-mode. As tested in Korea, the quickest mode for drag race is the drift mode (0-100 in 3.0 - 3.2 seconds).

Model 3’s have received an over the air software update giving them 5% more power & range. I’ve seen times for Model 3 Performance of 0-60 in 3sec and 1/4 mile times of 11.5sec. I wish carwow would also record 1/8 mile times. Great video!

The performance per dollar/pound/whatever for the Model 3 Perf and the Kia EV6 GT is _insane_ . They have the acceleration of supercars for less than 6-figures. The EV6 has the benefit of HP (which is torque at a higher RPM, sort of). The Audi has the benefit of the 2-spd gearbox, so it can get better high speed performance. The Model X was probably dealing the motors or batteries overheating by the time you got to the roll races. The old Model S/X batteries and drivetrains are kind of known for having pretty insufficient cooling. They’re good for a few hard pulls or maybe one lap, then they overheat and derate.

Brilliant and funny drag race. I actually expected the Kia to beat the Tesla on the drag race but it is known for its strong continuous pull to top speed. Yes Kia have indeed done a fantastic job with this EV6 range. its a better looking car, my choice of the two and second cheapest The Audi though is just the best looking car, beautiful and only failed on brake test. My ultimate choice and cheaper than the BM. Great team all of you. Happy New Year everyone

Either they have a pretty old Model X for that test there or something was wrong with it. The 2018-2019 model typically does 11.2s on the 1/4 mile and should be faster than the Model 3. The new Model X plaid does 9.7s or so, but that would be unfair I guess. The most surprising thing here was the KIA EV6 for me, that thing pulled surprisingly well for its weight and height.

In some ev's. A lot of the newer designs (the Audi for instance) keep acceleration pretty stable down to sub 25% and can do it time after time. Tesla do it the other way around with them going past the stress levels the components can take for one or two launches (in ludicrous) then having to really reel it in for a while afterwards. Which is better is a matter of opinion. More consistent but not ultimately as fast as possible or qualifying mode then back off? Older Tesla designs like the model X also do drop off as battery percentage goes down but if it needs to be over 95% for full performance thats not realistic for most of the time anyway so as long as they were all over around 50% its a fair test.

Small suggestion: When you're showing the stats of electric cars, maybe you should also include the year of production. I think in case of electric cars it's pretty important as one year of EVs development makes a huge difference (e.g. Tesla X is the oldest).

Yep, no mention that this is a 3 year old Model 3 that you can buy for 45k from Tesla now……..I’d say it was pretty embarrassing for the other manufacturers personally. The Audi may be quick, but look at the cost 🤣

I think this was done on purpose to crap on Tesla, just like everyone else does. Two, 2-6 year old Teslas vs all new EV’s. But if you read between the lines, it seems Tesla is the true winner with that much older of cars keeping up with the new EV’s. I’m sure they would have had no problem sourcing a Plaid. They gotten exotic cars.

@@GoldenCrocTesla is the value king, but Lucid is starting to catch up. If they manage to mass produce the Air, they will surely rule the luxury EV sector. The Sapphire is nearing production and the prototype version beat the Plaid in a race. Tesla will need to make the Plaid+ to remain the best in sedan performance.

@@UProductions457 One of Lucids problem is relly mass producing cars.. its not as easy as people think. Even car manufacturers that has done it for much more than 100 years get it spectacularly wrong in some years with some models. Also, with the New Lucid triple motor, I was starting to ask how much speed the normal person that drive an EV really need. Cant be all that many as a percentage taking their car to the drag strip often. Its cool and all and I am as big of a speed freak as they come, but most people aint. In normal traffic, I would think few people would ever use more power than something like this Model 3 can give you. Its after all as fast as most high end sportscars from not all that many years ago... I think almost everyone would be satisfied with something like the Audi in this offers (11 seconds flat quarter mile).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I think they’re hideous. Way over stylized and will look dated much sooner then other more timeless designs. Some say the model 3 is boring but I believe it’s aged quite well. Plus the over the air updates make the cars perform better then when they were new.
