Yeah even the 2013-15 RSQ3 with 230kw stock can easily push 290-300kw with just stage 1. The potential of these engines is truly insane! Meanwhile stage 1 on the merc yeilds a gain of about 25kw...

Well 80% of the people who buy popcorn machines also do stage 1 or 2 to the car. 45amg s gives you 30hp extra while rs3 has room for 80hp extra just stage 1. Also the sound 🥰

You never said if they were in their sportiest setting for the rolling race. They both looked like they were in comfort. Also, fun fact for the Merc, race start is activated just by pressing the brake then the accelerator so much easier to race off the line. All others require many button presses etc

A 4 cylinder, no matter whether it's 1000KW, just can't sound sweet like that 5. Also, the tractability once on the move is way better in the 5cyl. 7th gear at 2000 RPM up a hill and it pulls you up. That's the difference. Off the line, Audi have actually downgraded the car dramatically with all the Euro 6 regulations which they should have removed for export cars. To put it into perspective, I was neck and neck with one in my Cupra Ateca to about 80 and that should just not happen. As I said in a different comment, my mum's 7 year old RSQ3 with much less power beats the new ones off the mark. You can physically feel the launch then it cuts out, maybe Audi can fix it with a software upgrade. That said, you can't speed in Australia, so I would probably go for the Merc for my next car. As all I care about is off the line. Also, the ambient lighting and dash instruments in the merc put the Audi to shame (as does the interior in general). Edit, spelling only.

@@teddym2808 as an owner of a RSQ3, i can tell you that the RSQ3 wakes up after 10,000km......when i first got mine, i really really battled to get any good times out of it.....waited a few months and 10k km and boom it started getting way better times......i now added a JB4 piggy back tune which is stealthy for warranty and get 4.0 0-100 times...and 12.1 1/4 mile times....i get 4.7 sec 0-100 without using launch control.....so for $500 you can keep the 5cyl sounds and smoke the merc...

@@teddym2808 No way Merc GLA has better lookin interior. I was sitting today in a dealership in a brand new 2023 audi rsq3 and in a GLA 45 amg s. I went for the Audi in a second. Didnt even need to think more then 2 minutes. The Audi feels much better inside. And outside as well. It's just the feeling that I have more car in an Audi. In GLA I dnk why but I felt like its a lower class car. But that is just me. Cant wait to pick it up next week!

There is a video of the X3 M40i against Mecedes GLA 45 AMG on KZbin. It's pretty close but the Mercedes wins. A 2.0 liter 4 cilinder against a 3.0 liter 6 cilinder. Incredible what AMG managed to get out of a 2.0 liter engine.

The 5th cylinder makes it in the end. Cupra VZ5 with the RS Q3 motor would blow the benz away in all the tests thanks to the better gearbox and lower weight than the RS Q3.

@@Againstfacismandracism. The RSQ3 has an older gearbox generation which does not have torque split technology. May be it's not gearbox itself, more the transmission part of it. Cupra VZ5 has the same transmission technology as the newest RS3 generation has. It uses torque splitter to optimally distribute power across wheels. As a bonus, you get a drift mode ;)

The older RSQ3 would do better, Audi have neutered it. If you got the older 340HP RSQ3 and tuned it to 400HP, of the current one, which is even less power than the Merc, they are aggressively violent off the line. All these regulations and Audi have ruined the car, even for international markets. I can stay neck and neck with a current RSQ3 in a 0-100 drag in my mum's 2016 250KW model. How do I know? I have dragged one with both of us using launch control. I also pip it off the line quite noticeable as there's no sudden power drop/lag like the current one. Audi have destroyed this car and it's such a shame as the new one is the one with the interior and tech you want in 2023, but the 2018 model is the best raw engine/exhaust version of the car, then tune that to the current car's specs and it's way faster than the current car. Work that out. If you can live without ambient lighting, adaptive dampers and adaptive cruise, get a 2018 RSQ3 and do a simple stage 1+ tune let alone a stage 2 (1+ is gearbox as well) and you'll be shocked how much better in a straight line it is than the current model. The one thing you might want to get is the aftermarket new screen that has carplay integration, that will at least make it a lot more pleasant to use inside.

if you are going to tune it.....then just tune the new one, pull the OPFs off and tune it....i have a JB4 piggybck tune on mine which retains the warranty and get 4.0 0-100...and 4.7secs without launch control....12.1 in the 1/4 mile with a 180kph trap..

Im sorry but the Merc is way better looking and for the extra money u getting a way better interior and better car. Extra cylinder for no reason but to waist petrol. They audi styling is still good looking but its been the same for a while its only a facelift

The extra cylinder is worth it just for the sound alone! The group b esque sound is much better than the Dyson sounding Merc! Also the new RSQ3 is completely new and Audi still hasn't even released the performance model yet. Fun fact: the old RSQ3 Performance has better 0-100 time than the current model. Can't wait for the new performance!
