I calculated my TOTAL ownership costs for my 2016 Audi RS7, and I was quite surprised... The RS7 sits towards the top of the Audi Sport lineup, combining the performance of an R8 with the luxury of an A8. You get 560hp, AWD, practicality and that gorgeous exterior, what more could you want? With an original MSRP well over $100k, the RS7 is not a cheap car to own, but find out how much everything costs, with some detailed breakdowns. Several things were completely optional, and some were unavoidable, so make sure you watch until the end to see how the number was calculated. Stay tuned for several other Audi RS7 Ownership style videos coming soon!

I'd argue 13k not even essential. Buying it brand new you wouldn't need to replace rotors and pads, and no one is telling you to replace wheels and tires. Plus audi and bmw do free oil changes for the first 3 years. The only thing to factor is insurance premium, gas is only a factor if your previous car made considerably more mpgs. Lesson is buy it brand new and not at 20k miles. Then replace it at around 30k-35k miles before you warranty runs out, before you gotta replace tires, before you gotta do expensive rotors and pads changes.

Great video, Eddie! I went to buy an Audi RS7 2017 and even negotiated pricing with the dealer. When I called my insurance broker, he can get a policy anywhere. He called me back and the cheapest I could get was 450..... that’s because I have teenage drivers. I have no tickets, too. It was insane, so people need to remember to check with your agent first. I sent you my Instagram post in December when I bought the used 2018 Audi S6. I love it, too! But I’m already in from December- April I’m in at close to 10k. Thanks fir the video Eddie..... ive owned Cayenne turbos older one theyve been pretty reliable aside from the coolant pipes and shaft.... need a sedan for business im looking at an RS7 or an S8... Im really leaning towards the RS7.. a bit more expensive but i think its worth it... i see preowned s8's at $40k , RS7s are still mid 50s ... what do you think? have you driven both back to back?
@EddieX

Never driven back to back. Simply decide if you want the more luxury or more sporty one. I personally think the Sportback also looks a lot better. Be aware that the cars in the price ranges you're looking at will be older/have quite more miles too.

I bought a Q7 prestige a year ago and I do everything myself. My last two cars were Mercedes E63's. German cars do not cost that much to maintain if you just do the work yourself. I'm guessing for the year I'm into it for about $600 for legitimate maintenance items. I'm not trying to make it new again and I think that's the difference. Good luck with your ocd.

And if you’re NOT buying a first gen RS7 (which I have) based on the tech, then you could care less about this car completely. This car is 100% about play and 0% about the “bells and whistles”. It’s like saying “oh I’d never own a ‘69 600 hp, prestine GT 500 because have you seen the horrible tech in it?!?” Don’t forget this car is already almost hitting a decade old

Decent video @EddieX, shame you are thinking of selling because as you say owning it longer will even your costs out and there is a lot more potential in that car for you to extract. From another RS7 owner, I've had mine coming up for 4 years and the car has just turned 5 years old, costs aren't as much as you have quoted. I change oil every 5k miles which including a BG products oil flush costs £120/ $150 including labour and I have enough left to top up between changes if necessary Road tax here in the UK because I have a face lift model with reduced emissions is £325 / $400 4 new Michelin PS4S 275/30/21 including balancing, fitting £1050 / $1350 which last around 18k miles Insurance for 15k miles a year £500 / $620 Fuel at £130p / litre on averaging 22 mpg which is what I get on 15k miles is £4,000 / $4,900 Annual service when I provide my own oil, £220 / $270 Annual road worthiness inspection / MOT £30 / $37 So total running costs excluding depreciation is $7877 for 15 k miles Other costs; when I bought it I had the paint fully corrected and full front end, mirrors, sides and boot lip PPF all for £1800 / $2208 and an annual detail is around £500 / $600. I change plugs ever 20k miles rater than the recommended 40k because I run APR hard and software which is £150 / $180 including labour APR Stage 1 ECU file £850 / $1050 (sale price) APR Catted downpipes (Slightly used) £1000 / $1225 Centre muffler and resonator delete from OE sports exhaust £300 / $370 Occasional costs for the car are quattro ATF service at £300 / $370 every 40k miles and brake fluid change every 2 years at £150 / $184. I also have the ZF box serviced although Audi will advise it is sealed for life and doesn't need it (ZF themselves suggest every 60k miles) for £350 / $430 I had my carbon rear diffuser repaired after it being cracked (7 inch crack top to bottom) due to someone reversing into my car for £200 / $245 which was full cut back, new carbon overlay, lacquered, cutting and polishing The big part though, brakes. If I had a dollar for the number of people who say ceramics aren't worth it I could buy a new RS7 outright. I bought a used car with ceramics on the car, so no additional cost to me and when they were measured late last year at 80k miles on the clock, the discs and pads that have been on the car from new were 22% worn. That in theory means I could run the car for 200k miles before having to think about replacing the discs, pads probably before that. I quite often see C7 RS6/7 owners having to replace steels, certainly on the fronts, every 20-30k miles which at that rate means they have paid more than what it was to option ceramics in the first place! They are immense, save unsprung weight over steels and just get stronger the more heat there is in them. So for a 720bhp / 1100NM family car that can keep everything including 911 Turbos, Huracan Performantes and Stage 4 GTR's honest (leaves V10 R8's and Model S P100D's behind, gets left by a 720s), how many other cars are out there for these running costs? As for reliability, like said mine is now 5 years old, still on OE turbos, PCV and oil screen and has had one warranty piece of work done in 89k miles which was a change of DRC to the revised dampers. These cars are made to be driven and the more regularly they are, the more they behave themselves.

What are your thoughts on the 2020 Audi a6/s6? I'm in the market for a mid sized sedan. Is it worth it? I never had any experiences with Audi, just Mercedes and BMW.

After spending a week with the new A7. I really liked it! Not sure how I'd feel about the V6 S6, but the A7 was a brilliant daily driver and road trip car, I imagine the same extends to the A6

I will give you my ownership costs of owning my s7 for a year now. It's obviously not the same caliber of the rs7 but If you want to go cheaper you can. I got mine for about 55k premium with about 11k miles last year in april. I've changed the brake pads because they were squeaky as hell(EBC Redstuff(250$) new tires(5 total because when I got 4 new ones.. one of them immediately went out LONG STORY(1750$) and 2 oil changes/Cabin Air filter about (400 total) these are things that I needed) Another brake/rotor change will come soon. Now for my enjoyment( I Wrapped the car/tints/painted rims all that good stuff) 4-5000, Went stage 1 APR thats another 1700$ and changed to the rs7 grille 100-200$. Total on things I've needed I spent about 2400(not including insurance)

Justin Walker That’s good to know, I just purchased a pre owned S7 last month. So far I’ve only done ceramic tint on the windows after I passed state inspection. I am somewhat prepared for high repair cost and very interested in modifications once things settle back down. Don’t have many places to drive now but the car is awesome. So far your costs sound manageable, thanks for the info.

EddieX I only said it because i drive 30 000+ miles a year and have driven most my cars 50 000 to 100 000 miles before selling them and if i only drove one of my dream cars 10 000 miles it would feel like a really short time driving it.

tompparaideri average driver normally drives 10k-12k miles a year. Your personal figures are way above average and won’t apply to most people
@jabberwakkee
@jabberwakkee 4 жыл бұрын
@@hobear637 That must be a universal average. Milage always depends on where you live. Here in Texas my average is 16k to 20k miles a year. Others may have even more if you live outside of major cities like Houston and have to drive 45 minutes everyday just to get to work.

I have a 2018 S4 with 11k on it and considering either an RS3, RS5 or used 2016-2018 S7. I assume the S7 might be cheaper in the long run compared to something RS.
@hfrog713

Rotors for the S7 are like 70-80 bucks the RS7 for the same year ar $650 if you can find them. The S7 is way more affordable, I am not positive but if you throw a stage 2 tune on it with a downpipe youre looking at a couple grand and cruising. Also about 30-45k cheaper.

@@hfrog713 Thanks for the reply, I actually ended up getting a 2019 VW Arteon SEL 4motion. It's like an Audi A7S7 but more affordable. I'm actually thinking of retrofitting Audi MK3 TTS front 4piston calipers. Got it under 25k out the door. So far I like it. It's a commuter car, got my wife a Q8.

Current events reduce the selling price by another $10-15,000 easily. That is only if you were to sell it. Depreciation can and will fluctuate depending on many market factors.
