I bought one identical to that from a dodgy dealer. I found it fast and comfortable and a bit quirky but never really gelled with it, mainly because it was plagued by electrical faults eg central locking, fuel filler and most annoying of all a battery drain which I was told would be a dash out job. I got rid and went back to my MX5's. I'd like to sample a fault-free one though as it would probably change my mind.

That's a big shame. They are really good if you get a good one

I can’t believe you found such a lovely TT convertible for just £1200 Jon, such a lot of car for the money and I would have snapped that up, even at £2500 had I known you then. I agree, Mk1 TT’s are at the bottom of their value curve right now but prices are on the up for the best examples and I’m very tempted to get one whilst they’re affordable. I think they look sharp in ‘safe’ silver too. This is a car you should have kept in the collection, and if these are hairdressers cars, I dread to think what my K12 Micra C+C is considered to be! I previously owned a Mercedes SLK 230 but found the interior trim very low rent, the TT by comparison is a step up in quality and the best two seater sports car of the two.

Yes these are an appreciating classic👌🏻 Found a silver v6 roadster for a good frend locally in 🇨🇭, he exported it to NL and absolutely loves the car. The sights and sounds of the V6 suit the roadster quite well. Even if it’s a gloryfied Golf😅

Looks a nice unmolested example you have , I had a 180 roadster a couple of years back. I fitted a 225 back box to even the looks out at the rear , it was a direct fit.looking forward to seeing your future content

Yes they really are just 2 seater cars IMHO

Nice one! Cloth seats are the best for convertibles. And you can easily have it remapped to have some more power, I guess.

I had a silver 225 coupe on a W. I loved driving that car... Until the knocking noises started under the bonnet. I took it to a TT specialist and the engine chose to grenade itself as I drove into their car park. I found paperwork after I bought it to say that the engine had been rebuilt a few years before, by an apparently reputable VAG garage, for unknown reasons... I wonder how good a job they did. Anyway, the TT specialists offered me £3000 less than I'd paid for it (less than a year before), which I took, and I got the bus home. They must have re-engined it, as it had an MOT for another 3 years after that.

Sorry, but not a fan of Audi's - Probably put off by their seemingly typical drivers (Not you though Jon) ! This one though was quite nice, and definitely a future classic. I'd certainly prefer your purple one - Nice colour. Glad you made a nice profit with it.

I can't see any valid argument for keeping it really. You didn't especially like it and had no reason to drive it. Mrs. JC didn't like it, so it was just going to sit there, costing money and depreciating. Far better to move it on, make a bundle of cash and give someone a nice summer sports tourer. Trying not to let the fact that a young "lady" in a TT tried to take out me and my dad a bit back (leaving us with a whole lot of insurance pain and a pathetic payout resulting in no car) from colouring my like or dislike of the TT. They may eventually be a classic, but I think they would need to be in top spec and condition.
