@lambosuperl: agree that the Porsche would be significantly quicker in a drag race with PDK, (not so sure about the auto M2) but still wouldn't match or beat the acceleration of that Audi, it's a straight line weapon.

+RacingRalphEvo - "if they were fitted with a modern automatic/double clutch transmission, they would be faster" and less fun. And the cars I am talking about are cars like the Camaro SS 1LE, Mustang GT350R, Camaro ZL1, Corvette Grand Sport and Z06, Viper ACR. If you want good handling car or track weapon below ~$400k then those cars are the fastest at their respective price points, and all of them so with a manual. The ZL1 is the one exception where it's own automatic was about 1/3rd of a second faster around Willow Springs than the manual. That's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make if not for the fun at least so enthusiasts wouldn't look down on me every time they peered inside the car.

I can understand taking your car to the track and trying that out... And that is a lot fun I'm sure.... But using the ability to drift as a measure of how fun a car is, is silly.

@farhan0077 жыл бұрын
sigh. a car can drift better means it inherently has more balance to play with it at the limit. and yes a Cayman feels supurior to drive over a ttrs even at 6/10ths because the car feels far more responsive to inputs thanks to a mid engine layout and rwd where the front end is very light and turn in feels like a go kart. the ttrs feels like a fast... golf.

Slowest incarnation of the M2 versus the fastet incarncation of the TT. Unsurprising result really. The Porsche is incredibly impressive, given it's got about 20bhp less than the M2, but is over 2 seconds faster to 130mph. Insane.

We actually purposely wanted these cars with manual gearboxes, but the TT RS only comes with a double-clutch transmission. That means it has an advantage at the drag race, potentially again when it comes to lap times (but you'll have to wait and see…) and then how good the transmission is in terms of enjoyment will be assessed in part 4 when we drive for fun rather than against the clock. It's a four-part test, so across the multiple episodes (and thus disciplines they're subjected too) each car's strengths and weaknesses will hopefully be revealed.

@brandongao36756 жыл бұрын
For everyone saying that this test was unfair because of the transmissions, let's get some facts straight. This time we'll use the BMW Auto and the Porsche PDK. Audi: 0-60 in 3.2 seconds Porsche: 0-60 in 4.0 seconds BMW: 0-60 in 4.0 seconds The Audi keeps pulling away due to its traction advantage up to 130+ mph. Then the Porsche's lighter weight kicks in and pulls in really slowly.
@smokeytom245 жыл бұрын
They are not facts. Porsche always drastically underestimate their performance figures. A Boxster S with launch control will consistently hit 60 in 3.5 seconds - several US tests prove this. I doubt very much that the Audi is any quicker, or there will be hardly anything in it. The BMW's launch control is poor in comparison, it can't get the traction down and would be left behind by the other two.
@EugVR62 жыл бұрын
The Porsche will probably be the best drive and quickest on a handling circuit.

Predictable outcome, but so awesome to see the actual results. I was however surprised that the M2 was as fast as the cayman to 60. I wish the M2 was fastest out of these. I bet there's a Cayman GTS coming and the M2 CLS is on it's way. Let's do this battle again with those! Truly great vid again guys. Nailing it. While I really like Drivetribe's videos and it's interesting to see these kind of comparisons this series isn't all that great. "Technical might of the Audi TT-RS" - you realise that you compare an auto against two manuals, right? Give the other two dual clutch transmissions and launch control and the numbers difference won't be that large despite the AWD. I mean even with AWD and launch control the TT isn't actually that much faster than the other two to 30 and 60mph. The TT is a nice car, the comparison interesting - but not "fair". What would've been more interesting would be checking both manual and auto for each car, if available, and see what difference that makes and how the cars compare. Looking forward to the track test regardless.

The TTRS is a "wanna be sportscar" just for driving fast in a straight line. In the German magazine "sport auto" it just had such massive brake failure on the Nordschleife with its optional ceramic brakes, that the Testdriver Christian Gebhardt (winner in one class of lasts year 24 hour endurance race on the Nordschleife), nearly crashed the car. Just after two fast lanes the brake pads of the 4.600 EUR optional brake where completely melted. That phenomenon happened in two different Testcars directly delivered from Audi Sport. Really great sportscar that thing ... :-)

If I owned an M2 or the Cayman, with £250 per tyre, no matter how much fun, you wouldn't catch me drifting or doing a burn out. So the whole 'fun' thing makes no sense. I hate the 'pure-ist' description of a car because the majority of the owners wouldn't dream of ragging the car, only the 'pure-ists', with no financial investment in the car, dream of ragging them

Benjamin Button drifting is not the ONLY reason rwd is more fun to drive compared to awd. Rwd is better around a corner and more intuitive to drive hence more fun to drive than awd.

What the fuck? I don't know about the Porche but I know the BMW has an automatic option with launch control. How the hell is this a fair comparison?

The only people who think the fastest 0-60 time must be the best car, are children who have never owned any of these cars.

Before I even watch the video I already knew that the TT would win. I owned a TT before and it was awesomely fast. I am not a technical kind of guy , but I just know a fast car when I drive one .

So it's pretty much down to what you'd want in a sports car... You want sheer speed and crazy acceleration? Get the TT-RS. You want more fun and constant drifts? Go for the M2. You want amazing handling and superb track prowess? Pick the 718.

oh my god! 0-60 in 3.5 secs for that price is really amazing

What the fuck, 3.5 seconds to 60mph? That's bloody rapid

lmao it isnt fair, the m2 and cayman s are also available in auto, *not fair*

LMFAO It would not have mattered if the Porsche had the PDK and BMW had the crappy Auto box they have. The TT-RS simply destroyed them by a large margin. Even in a roll on it will destroy them. I do not understand why it is so hard to understand. Not Audi fault for deciding to offer the S-Tronic only for the TT-RS(US market). So once again bravo to Audi for shining yet again.

It pretty much is Audis fault if they don´t offer a manual option for this car.

Premier Motor 1.4s could be made up for with a PDk and launch control
@Omehuug7 жыл бұрын
Yeah okay, but launching a Cayman S manual is really hard, it stalls pretty quicky because to much grip and the lag of power. Than you want a pdk (sorry for bad english).
@premiermotor66497 жыл бұрын
Well I actually work for Porsche and to answer that, no it can't!! It is .3 seconds quicker to the exact and so I hope that helps. The TT-RS is just superior in this segment, I do love the feel of the Porsche however with PDK.
@smokeytom246 жыл бұрын
Complete waste of time!! The BMW and Porsche need a bloke to press the clutch pedal and manually move his arm to select & change gear, whilst the Audi has computer aided millisecond quick fire Auto, which not only gives launch control but also makes a massive difference to acceleration. This is a pointless video, that proves absolutely nothing. Delete the video and get all three with quick fire auto, then reshoot the video. I expect the Porsche would then win. (Most recent year(s) Boxsters & Caymans are flitted with PDK & Chrono, so any Audi drivers looking at this video will get a shock in the real world).

I think If you didn't make all the settings sport plus, they would actually be faster. Softer suspension helps a lot.

that Porsche 4 cylender is pretty impressive, even if I prefer the 6 cylenders (like almosy everyone) I think it's pretty fast, just needs better sound!
