Thanks for the video I watched it about 10 times and just dropped my subframe today! The hardest part was the P-clip holding down the power steering line. Couldn't get a wrench on it, took me almost an hour to get the nut off.

It really is quite easy, a lot of people seem to try and avoid removing it, or drop it slightly to work around it, but you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is

I watched your quattro tt clutch flywheel a couple of times before doing mine. Thank you for that, it went very well. Well that is after I realized that I had gotten a clutch for just a front wheel drive, not a quattro, the diameter was smaller than the shaft. Wasted a shit load of time. I wish I had watched this video before reinstalling my sub frame. I couldn't get it lined up, as I had swung the rubber mount backwards instead of forwards. Could have saved me a shit load of time. Appreicate you very much...

I’m about to undertake this job as I think my 1st-2nd selector folk rivet snapped. Strangely it’s like it’s stuck in neutral as I can push the car, but I am only able to start the engine with the clutch pedal down. Hopefully my GB isn’t minced 😕😕😕

I have a left hand drive tt 225, i’m planning on removing the ko4 turbo and i was told i can remove it through the bottom by removing the subframe. being the expert on these cars you are, can you confirm this please before i indulge???

Do you think it's possible to remove the Haldex unit without removing the subframe? I need to rebuild mine and wanted to minimize disassembly. I know you're working on the front subframe but I couldn't find anything involving removing the Haldex. Thanks

What is the proper name for the "one time use" bolts? The "quite expensive" bolts at 9:05 in the video? I will have to order them from ECS turning or audi.

Managed to replace a bent subframe yesterday with your help in this video. Thank you so much. Now my front wheel sits square in the arch after the previous owner clouted something, they replaced half the suspension but left a bent subframe. Now for some new tyres and alignment. Would you recommend 4 wheel alignment or is the front two enough?

Just about to buy a 2007 that’s that’s had the following advisories Nearside rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive chassis (5.3.6 (a) (i)) Offside rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive chassis (5.3.6 (a) (i)) Rear sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i)) These a big problem ?

Impossible to say without seeing it- there is a lot of room for interpretation of that, but realistically its probably just a picky tester that had to find something to mention

If you've got the new one ready to go, with new wishbones on it, then you could do the swap in an hour, it's really not that big a job

Hey Bryn, great stuff as always. Any special considerations when dealing with LHD quattro roadster? I know you did a clutch over in US, not sure if you remember any finnicky LHD/quattro specific issues when dropping subframe.

From what I rember the subframe part of the job was no different on the LHD spec

Old VAG Tech told me that they used to install a threaded rod into each of the sub frame bolt holes as they removed each bolt one by one. This then made re installation & alignment a doddle........

Not a bad idea, if you habe m14 threaded bar to hand, it's really not that tricky to line up with a jack and lining up the droplinks and ball joints first

I’m not sure if anyone can help me in this thread, but I am having a terrible time refitting the subframe. I have all 4 main bolt started but not tightened down. It looks like I am going to crush the power steering line if I keep tightening the bolts not sure what I’ve done wrong. Thanks all.
