What’s that one thing you want to know about the id4?🤔

I like it, but my setup is Shure SM7B -> Cloud Lifter -> DBX 286s -> Focusrite Solo (Gain on 0) -> PC... I like this unit, but, if I still plan on using the DBX's preamps, would there be any reason to get the MKii? Will it sound cleaner?

I would say yes, but realistically not by much. It not be worlds cleaner or quieter, but there is a difference. Dbx will always add its own color and I’d course you have a compressor to work with as well.

@@LoKnows Should I be looking at a audio interface that bypasses it's internal preamps, so I can exclusively use the dbx? Or, is it more common practice to layer them? Thank you btw.

@@hat8918 in the end it’s really up to your taste. For example. I use an iD44 with my Avalon 737. Originally I wanted to bypass the preamp and went with the inserts. Sounded great. But for some reason when I went in through the line in (through the xlr) I preferred the character I got from it. Again you just have to test for yourself

If paired with sennheiser HD660s or high ohm dependence headphones will I be fine with the headsets full potential or will I need to get a headphone amplifier. I’m trying to find a interface which hits the full potential of the sennheiser HD660s 350+ohms and I see 600ohms on the box which is why I’m asking you is the amp not necessary.🙂

Thanks I also use the MKH416 and I really wanted to see how it holds with the ID4 and this review helped me a lot. I can now go ahead with the purchase.

I don't know why people are so mad in the comments, like, I got what I needed: iD4 MKII can handle 250 ohm DT770 Pro, and it sounds warmer and closer to a premium-class sound cards. Audient id4 mkii headphone amp is terrible, just like any of the budget audio interface headphone amps out there. No, it can't drive Beyerdynamic dt 990 pro 250 ohms headphones. You would need an external headphone amp. Try it, and you'll be amazed by the difference.

@@milankotevski1663 I got said combo and my 990 pros are able to clip on this interface... I would say that all preamps are pretty pretty fantastic, both for headphones and microphones... Why'd you think the opposite?

Did you do the headphone test with usb-c to usb-c? I read somewhere that usb-c to usb-a significantly reduces the headphone amp's power, by about eightfold

hi I am a total noob so bear with me, this might be silly question. if you had the id4 would you still invest in a dedicated heaphone amp just to listen to music? or is it a pointless upgrade?

The price here in Sweden is 15 dollar between EVO 4 and ID4 Mkii (more expensive). - I have Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250Ohm headphones, AKG D5 microphone and Edifier 1855DB speakers. I want the device to drive them all for gaming, listening to music and watching videos. - I want to switch audio source between Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and Edifier 1855DB easy, which one is the best for that? - I want to drive my AKG D5 microphone to a good level without having to go 90-100 % gain. - Can you mute/unmute microphone quickly on iD4 Mkii? How do you do it?

Audient is the best card in semi-pro class in the market now..This is a typical rock solid Brit hardware..

Can we use dt 770 pro 80 ohm perfectly with id4 mkii without any problem? Are there any issues driving lower impedance headphones with this interface?

this audient id4 sounds good when recording but in my opinion, when using headphones through the interface... yes it can power high impedance headphones, but not to its full potential if you know what I mean. I have the Schitt Modi/Magni stack headphone amp+dac and I use the Sennheiser HD6XX (which is 300ohm) as my daily driver, it sounds very different compared to the audient id4's headphone amp. With the Schiit stack, my headphones sounds a lot warmer (which apparently that is how the HD6XX is supposed to sound) and it actually feels like it is powering it 100%. Whereas with the id4, there was less low end in the frequencies and barely sounded warm, and feels like it is powering the headphones to a somewhat ~75%. Tbh, I feel like the Audient ID4 being able to "power up to 600ohm" headphones is bs.

The Magni boasts around 220mW of power into 600 ohms whilst the Audient boasts 100mW.

Which impedience version ich the 770 do you own? I need a new interface bc mainly the headphone amp on my Steinberg sucks and I wonder if I can drive 250 ohms with it. Edit; okay nvm it's in the title I didn't see since I came from Google on mobile. My problem is that the headphones don't reproduce the low end properly on the Steinberg and in the manual they don't feature a 250ohm spec. Since headphone amps are hard.to get right now I might try this one.

Audient id4 mkii can't drive 250 ohm Beyerdynamic properly. Whoever tells you otherwise, is either shill or deaf. You will need an external headphone amp.

Hello, I am using focusrite solo but it does not power my new 250 ohm beyerdynamic headphone. Does the audient id4 power the dt770 or will I need a headphone amplifier? Because I am thinking to shift to Audient id4 instead of the focusrite.

I got the ID4 MKII + 990 Pros 250 ohm and I can assure you that if you use the USB C to USB C cable you WILL drive your headphones no problem! Bring in some EQ (Equalizer APO is great) and your headphones will sound amazingly. No need for amplifier at all !!!!!

No way. Even 250 ohms is a stretch, based on my personal experience.EDIT: it was user error on my side. ID4 mkii can easily drive 250-300 headphones. Tested with Sennheiser hd600 and Beyetdynamic dt 990 pro 250 ohms. Don't know about 600 ohms cans, as I don't own one.
