You could’ve done a number of things to stop yourself from smothering those babies and you didn’t. You planned. You thought. You deliberated. You called a realtor, your new girlfriend and the kids’ school right after dumping their bodies into oil tanks. That’s a man with a plan. Not the actions of someone irrational, who snapped because they had been ball busted for too long. And the people who victim blame Shanann for this!? Despicable. I don’t care if she was the most bridezilla, spiteful, ball chopping Karen in existence, she didn’t deserve any of this and none of his actions can be justified using that as a motive.

It's entirely possible that a deranged, inhuman murderer could have a high IQ. That said, Chris Watts does not strike me as a high-IQ individual by any measure. Nothing about his actions was careful or methodical, a minimum of planning went into it, and he made several inexplicable moves (such as doing a news interview the next day) that only sped up his arrest.

The eviction was less than 15 days away. This was under Shanann's financial direction. The "financial irresponsibility" that Chris demonstrated was that he failed to achieve a high enough sale price on a four wheeler he unloaded several years before. That was it... When they met he had $20,000 in the bank. Real irresponsible... Shanann spent that savings. Shanann's dad gave her a $3,500 credit card so she could continue to purchase Thrive. Under her control, the bank accounts showed a balance of less than $100 and the credit cards were maxed out. Chris didn't even have a passwords. The SUV's $800 monthly lease was provided by Thrive with the stipulation that she sign up one person by the 10th of each month. She would do this by paying that individual's sign up fee herself (which was against company rules). Robbing Peter to pay Paul. While her parents lived in the four bedroom Colorado home, she charged them $1000 a month and required them to stay in the unfinished basement. The house was in Chris' name because she had too many bankruptcies. He was so irresponsible. Her first husband, the lawyer, supported her in the previous marriage, which is how she ended up in the large NC home. Meanwhile, apparently her boss at Dirty South was funneling money through - among other places - her North Carolina home. She lied and said she was making $500,000 a year at a rim shop. No. She quit her job under accusations of embezzlement and went to work at the mall. Because no college degree. She dropped out of nursing assistant classes. No one deserves to be killed, but she wasn't a saint.

He's not a sociopath, he has to live inside a delusion, otherwise he'd be lying in his bed immobile, unable to move... He's built a whole false narrative he lives inside. He did it when he was married, too, I'd bet money on it, then when he met a woman that made him feel good about himself it deteriorated. I suspect Shanaan made him feel like he was about 2 feet tall. The story of this guy's fascinating, from where he grew up & why he was attracted to & married her to how his delusion fell apart & what led to this horrible tragedy. It's not a common story. It's like a Greek tragedy. It would make more sense if he was a sociopath, but if he was they wouldn't have come back to interview him. It's how he was different than most family murderers that makes this fascinating to profilers.

If I recall, she said he saved her from a sad life. If he felt 2 feet tall it was likely related to his own perceptions about himself, and most likely some very dark thoughts that led up to the end. I hope someone gets to him and hands him the same sentence he handed his family.

Yes, and given how much he lied and lied pre-trial I think we have to take everything with a bucket of salt. When he finally admitted to killing his wife he actually spent ages saying that he only killed her in anger after seeing that she had smothered their children: "I did NOT kill my babies". Until he did. What I will say is that having just watched the Netflix documentary about all of this 'American murder next door', Shanann does talk about being the dominant one in the relationship. And, she does message a friend saying that she never considered how her treatment of him might have made him feel less of a man. Absolutely doesn't excuse murder, of course. He is an adult and could have chosen to 'use his words' instead.

Her behavior signed her own death warrant. If he was a real man, he would have corralled that long ago, but unfortunately, he let things fester into an uncontrollable rage. @@JT-xp3in shannan had do be dominant because thats what he triggers in his partners. Intentionally. Nicole was also the dominant one. He behaved in a way that made the women feel, they had to protect him and do everything. He played the victim and manipulated his partners. Shannan protected him from his parents who were quit harsh with him when he still lived there and nicole felt, as if she had to save him from his cruel wife. Besides, there is nothing wrong about the women being more dominant than the men as long as both are happy with it. He doesn't want to have the responsibility for anything, if shannan hadn't taken it upon herself to organise, she would have gotten nothing done. And this behaviour was not normal for her. She wasn't the dominant type. He's a full on narcissist and he manipulated her into this role. Believe me, someone who is capable of slaughtering his family, is capable of putting a foot down if he likes. He didn't snap, because he couldn't bare their dynamic but because he didn't got enough supplie from her. Manipulating and triggering Nicole into the exact same patterns as shannan proofs this.

That's a big part of marriage. Otherwise why not just continue dating? So, staying with her spouse, and the father of her children, attempting to talk about their problems, giving him that couples therapy book etc... Those were all valid and sensible steps for someone who takes their wedding vows seriously. The problem was Shananne wasn't dealing with a normal person who could feel empathy for others. He didn't know, or just didn't care about the emotional pain his wife was going through. Once she understood the type of person she was dealing with, then yes absolutely. Get out of there immediately. But, when did the realisation finally hit Shananne? When he didn't care about waking her up from a deep sleep to tell her he was done? That always struck me as incredibly odd timing btw 🤔 Did she suspect something was seriously wrong with him because he seemed to want to have a break up conversation whilst straddling her? I believe that he killed the kids before he left the house that morning. The bedding on both of the kids bed's were gone just like Shananns. I think he wrapped each one of them up after killing them... Just like he did to her. This was planned out before hand. Chris even called the crew the day before and told them not to show up at the work site because he said there was no need he'd take care of everything. He didn't want anyone there because he planned to dispose of the bodies. This guy is telling some truths but a lot of lies also!

Chris Googled "What do people feel when someone tells them they love them" literally an emotionless robot, pretending to be a caring human being. He was looking up what real humans feel when someone says I love you, so that he knew what emotions to mimic for his mistress. He was also looking up "when to say I love you in a new relationship", a normal human being wouldn't need to look that up; because they would say it when they FELT it. I don't think he did it. I don't think he killed anyone. This interview was not an interview. This was an interrogation. This interrogation happened well after he wasn't sentenced to life without parole. These people don't do anything without a good reason. Everything they do is done to get information. They spent almost 5 hours with him. That wasn't an accident. I don't think we've heard the true story yet. I think he is still lying about what really happened. He can't keep his story straight. One time he says both kids were dead before the truck, then he says he killed one in the house, then only minutes later he says they were both comforting each other inside the truck. Also, Tammy asks the question about why Shannan still had on a bra after going to bed twice and after sex. Also, he only expresses remorse for being there - he doesn't express remorse for what he claims to have did. He only expresses disbelief. But he DOES express remorse for being there. And literally nothing about his psychological profile indicates any psychopathic ability whatsoever.
