“Coffee” And yes all my techs have to use something with a spill proof lid or cap when mixing, doing lighting or video switching etc, and if possible always like to have liquids lower in height than the equipment there using, thanks for another great video well put simply spoken and very understandable. Coffee. I love your educational videos but there is a ton of information in each one. Information Overload! Nice to see you continuing your channel even during COVID. I enjoy your channel so much, I have been able to share you with the rest of our worship team and they find you very knowledgeable and accurate. I do have a question based on a Gate. I know you are not a huge fan of using a Gate, but I want to poke your brain about it. Is there a preference or correct way to either use the frequency cut in the EQ band or use S/C HPF & LPF cut? I know the flow of signal starts Gain > Gate > Compression > EQ > Out. But does it make a difference if the frequency cut is removed at the Gate level first vs the EQ level later? Also, does the S/C HPF & LPF notch out that exact frequency infinitely or is it a gradual cut like your typical HPF at the Gain level? I want to utilize most or all the options our mixer presents (Soundcraft Si Performer 3) and this is one option I didn't know how to properly use. Sidechaining is confusing, so hopefully you can clarify? If I can utilize the S/C HPF & LPF in the Gate in the way I hope, then that will open up the the lowest and highest frequency band in the EQ for more frequency cuts...i hope I'm right, because our soundboard only have four (4) bands. Ive seen much large boards have 5+. Sometime you need one more to cut and 4 doesn't cut it. No pun intended. Thank you James for all that you do.

Hey Adam! Sorry, not sorry about the information overload 🤣 The gate/compressor sidechain is only for what the dynamics module looks at to decide when to act, so it's not an additional band you can use in your channel path. Depending on the board, the HPF is before the gate, so the gate can ignore those LFs that can jack with it. I hear you on wanting more bands of EQ, but unless you're doing a lot of surgical EQing, if you can't get it sounding musical with 3 or 4 bands of EQ, something needs to change at the source or the mic. Excuse the crass language, but you can't polish a turd.

Attaway can you follow up with updated, revisited older stuff. . . delay -decay times, pre delay settings, room size etc, reverb tips again, based on consoles that are not quite as smart as SSL. I would love to be able high pass everything ie comps, reverb sends etc, but in most of our cases its all about shelving instead, etc. Most of us our done with the broadcast perfection-streaming etc, we all had to learn that on the fly and like "NOW". . . Give us some Wave plug in tips and "how to" and also "when to" use the most common plugins etc, since "they" will not explain without buying first, and even then. . .ever tried getting tech support from Waves We need warriors like you. . . "they" only want to send you a bundle pac to use of which half you do not utilize, but if you really want to figure out there product you will have to pay for it $$. . . so please show us some relevance, show us what "they" will not. . .your info is accurate and resourceful and like you said Pride is the hardest pill to swallow. . .well they force it down us, so please continue to help us out. . and I am sure your You Tube subscription/followers will triple in this area.
