Next generation of VST's should be a hybrid between modeling and sampling. Taking the good stuff from both worlds. The smooth transition between different dynamics of the instrument is the strength of the modeling method. However it lacks richness in the tone as a sample based VST.

I highly recommend getting a breath controller for this. I use the usb breath & bite breath controller from tec-control. Low learning curve & faster expression controller than a pedal. Also eliminates the “endless lungs” typical of keyboardists using wind instrument sounds.

You´re absolutely right. "Endless lungs" was the expression I was trying to create.

In my opinion... The sample thing never worked on solo strings, woodwinds and brasses I got a lot of sampled based violins, trumpets and saxophones but they always sound weird when you try to be fast and dynamic... This??? Is fuuucking amazing Swam did a great job rendering these instruments into VI's without even sample them

*The greatest problem with this sax is that a saxophone player has a finite breath, so, each note is played with some sound and some breath ( little pauses, always pumping ). A realistic saxophone cannot the played as an infinite air supply. When I hear this here, it´s like a sax pluggued on a garden rose, an infinite air supply compressor. If you could solve this problem, it would become very realistic. The saxophone is for me, the most difficult instrument to immitate at the pianos.*

If you were to use a breath controller (like the people who made the VST do in many of their demo videos) then it becomes more realistic in that way.

These audio modelling instruments look really good. So far I use iM1 Korg which is really good and realistic but not so much control over the details of manipulating all the different subtilties of one note or a chord. All the same what comes out is great but having access to these would be great. I purchased an SL73 just yesterday but that will take some time to arrive but went for that because in one of their demo’s they all used the Studio Logic SL’s. I guess it is because those are also produced in Italy. I have an M-Audio Oxygen Pro which will give me the ability to test those plugins on both and they just released them as AUV3 plugins for iPad so probably go for them. First one will most likely be the sax set but lately been using the iM1 Cornet which is very empowering. The iM1 presets are enjoyable using Aftertouch but still limited. Really looking forward to getting these Instrument modelling plugins especially the baritone and tenor. Thanks for the post. And well done by the way, a very good reveal.

I know I'm like 4 months late but if I were to suggest, you can stall this purchase. It is incredible for the complexity that it offers.But you have to use MIDI CC to reach that position. No other sample library can delivery such precision. So, if it's the most realistic sounding virtual instrument you're looking for and you don't mind working with CCs, go for it. But if it is a genre of music that requires basic sounds that are simply present in the background of a mix, you can try some cheap sample libraries or even free VSTs. Unless you're looking to work on a sound precisely, this is a bit pricey.

do you know why in the learn midi mode the expression and vibrato rating get mapped to the same CC1?
@hifimidi5 жыл бұрын
Abolit When you’re in that mode, are you trying to set the controls for the vibrato or for expression? Because expression, by default, is set to cc 11. Vibrato is set to see CC1 by default. So if you’re trying to set expression to CC1 first, then both of them are going to be on CC1.

@@hifimidi I'm using Korg microkey 37 air midi controller (in wired mode) . In Cubase I have no problems mapping CC1 and CC11 . In logic I can't configure CC11 mapped to pitchbend wheel.
