Tom, do you have any recommendations on affordable boom poles? I've been looking into the K-Tek Avalon series because I like the idea of a built in XLR cable for convenience, but have seen some reviews say the cable may be noisy from being bumped around or get stuck when expanding/collapsing. If anyone has experience with these, please chime in.

Stick with K-Tek! You can baffle the cable inside to quiet it down. But you really shouldn't be extending the pole much after the cameras are rolling.
