Great video as always Thomas👌🏻.. it Will be Nice a video talking about how to estimate the required times for all part of the process, like how much for DX editing per minute, how much for BG/FX per minute, and also for mixing

That is a great idea for a video

Wow that Absentia DX plug sounded great! I tried RX DIA isolate and print “noise” but you’re right abt ghost DIA sneaking in. My next edit I’m going to try Absentia RX, duplicate DIA playlists before I scrub/edit and apply Absentia for MnE pass. Have you ever gotten flagged for having PSFX on DIA stem? I usually edit out all PSFX and place on separate tracks routed to MnE stem. Just found your channel and subscribed thx for your work!

No, usually dx stem is ok to have psfx

Thanks Thomas! Great vid and I really appreciate your opinions about QC techs sometimes being on power trips and knowing that opinion isn't just me. I feel like I've been getting torn apart on QC notes lately but you made a great point that most of that is going to AI and picking up things that humans may have let pass. Fixing QC notes definitely feels like you play into the subjectiveness of the QC technician. While catching things that definitely help make the end product better sometimes it feels a bit much. Do you ever find noises or things that occurred offscreen (an undesirable chair squeak, or crew noise) that is in the the OV but you intentionally leave out of the M&E to create a cleaner product, but still gets flagged?

Hi JM, in my experience it is normal. They look for unmatches (you can take a look putting your 5.1 PM near your MNE and comparing while horizontaly sliding to figure it out if there is a notable difference in the waveform). If an unwanted sound is flagged you can explain the reason why it has not been included in the MnE in the QC report. It is possible that it will reappear flagged in a 2nd QC, in that case I would consider it as a QC Vendor mistake/ error. I hope you found it helpfull even if my english is not quiet correct. Best regards,

Hey everyone, When you watch a film, what elements leave the biggest impact on you? Is it: • The aesthetic and cinematography? • The way scenes are beautifully filmed and edited? • The immersive sound design, foley, or sound effects? • A perfectly balanced mix that ties it all together? • Something else entirely? I’m curious to hear what resonates most with you as a viewer or professional in the industry. Let’s discuss what elevates a good film to something truly memorable! Feel free to share your thoughts and examples of films that nailed these aspects. Let’s geek out over what makes cinema magic!

I like gritty films that feel real. No Country for Old Men, Fight Club, Cast Away. A good story, good performances, and every department doing a great job makes for a memorable movie.

@@ThomasBoykin Thomas you are the Goat man!! I have watched your audio 101 serie from youtube and i learned more in your videos than school for organization in pro tools since I'm a aspiring re-recording mixer I live in Mexico but hopefully with experience I get a job in America or Other places around the world. Right now I want to focus more on my editing and sound design for getting a decent portafolio but thanks to you everything is more easier in pro tools!! never stop making this kind of videos man! hugs and cheers for people like you!;)
