I really like this collaboration and series hopefully you continue making them! One request, would be great to see you fully set up the accessories in future videos & also show a bit how the audio sounds played back after it's in place (such as boom stand properly setup & difference btw Phil talking into it at proper level vs. too far away for an interview) Would help to fully understand the process. Great video!!

Excellent video. What hot shoe microphone do you recommend for run n gun videography, especially for street performers....say a mariachi band where they're spread out? Thanks!

We settled with the sennheiser me66 after using the rode. The 66 has fuller sound.

+Caleb Wojcik Great video, thanks guys! Caleb, can you please tell us the make and model of the dedicated shotgun boom stand you are you using in the video? It's different from the amazon kit you listed. Also, are those grey panels sound absorption material? I've learned the hard way; one of the main ingredients for good is audio is acoustic treatment of the recording space. I am struggling with that right now. Thanks!

***** That stand is the Manfrotto 420B: amzn.to/1O3arbh The sound panels are from here: www.audimutesoundproofing.com/sound-absorber.aspx

+Caleb Wojcik I'm looking for a shotgun mic for my channel. I will have group discussions, interviews and me talking alone. Would a rode mic. work for this if i put the mic in between us?
@CalebWojcik8 жыл бұрын
Kay Konvo If you're both the same distance away it could work, but you wouldn't be able to adjust the volume or effects on people separately.

Great Question that needs to be answered here -->"Great video! Can a shotgun microphone record two or more people with high quality? Or would you recommend using a lavalier microphone for each of them individually?"

Phil: How can an interview or instructional vids using one DSLR record two subjects with two separate lavaliers?
@VideoSchoolOnline8 жыл бұрын
+Carlos Riojas - your shot would have to be a two shot with both people in it, then your audio recording device would have to have two inputs for both mics.
@Lucretious20065 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Where do you connect the shot mic to in terms of recording device?
@5XWAZM5 жыл бұрын
You can either go into portable recorders like tascam or zoom recorders which have xlr multi inputs or you can go into an audio interface

For a single head shot for YouTude a shotgun would be great but you didn't compare a lav with a shotgun, you basically just used the lav which is kind of weird seeing you were featuring a shotgun. How about a lav/shotgun comparison and/or a shotgun only video?
@LightWthoutTheStatic7 жыл бұрын
These explanations and comparisons are really strange. Mostly on, but you make it sound like using a shotgun is a lot harder than it is while downplaying the actual strengths of the microphone type.
